Even though official news about Uncharted: Drake's Fortune making its way to the big screen only broke last week, Naughty Dog has been collaborating with the Hollywood producers involved for about a year-and-a-half, Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig revealed in an online chat with fans on the PlayStation Blog this afternoon.
"We're really excited about the development of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune as a movie," said Hennig. "We've been working with Arad Productions for the last year-and-a-half or so, and couldn't be happier about their enthusiasm for the project. We're looking forward to sharing more info with you all as soon as we can."
With rumors that Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford are considering another stab at the Indiana Jones franchise, does Dr. Jones suddenly have competition?

I don't like movies based on games, i'll wait until it comes out on DVD or on-demand. By the way, it was revealed at the end of last year that an Uncharted movie was on the works. You guys are late on this news, over half a year late. I don't know how this movie's story can suck; it already gots a good story, it'll take a moron to screw-up the story. All the people have to do is extend the adventuring and shooting to last about an hour and a half more and wala, we got a great movie(obviously they have to add more story otherwise it will earn it's horrible rating)

Halo --- about what happened to start the war and how all of the spartans died
Gears of War --- a prequel to the first gears game
god of war --- just a massive slaughter movie lol

Uncharted already has great acting and animation in it, so it's a great candidate for a movie...unlike Gears of War and Halo that were going to be made into movies. HAH. voice over in both of those games are so corny! "Yeah the Cole train baby!"

This will definitely be one of the FIRST real video game movies to debut well, it's a game ACTUALLY made for a movie ... perfect, and Uncharted will receive great publicity from it :)

I really think a movie on Uncharted would work, based on the E3 gameplay, it holds the potential for a good movie. It could be the new indiana jones...

I'm an xbox360 guy.. got to disclose that first. But I think it's great that a gaming studio is working on a movie. I stead of having some guy that doesn't know krap about the game making some half @ss atempt at a movie because he played the game the night before. Hollywood cant come up with an original idea to save their own hides. However there are game studios like nauty, take 2, Bioware, Epic, SquareEnix and countless others coming out with new and fresh stories to entertain gamers on a consistent basis. Hell the producers of Allen Wake and Heavy Rain for example come to mind also. Great to hear that Naughty is working on the movie, I only hope that they are not just mere advisors and have a BIG say as to what happens in the movie and how it's presented.

Do not even joke about that, Mr. Klepek. Getting raped by Spielberg and Lucas is no laughing matter. We should console each other through these tough times and help raise awareness of movie rape. With luck, we will have prevented any more needless victims from being violated. Remember, it's only funny until it's one of your childhood memories getting bent over with no Vaseline.

I actually would like to see this as a movie. from the E3 trailer of the sequal felt more like a summer movie. so if they can make it like that with you heart racing i think this movie will break the movie's based on games.

Lets see, An instant family classic with only one faulty movie that has been around for generations, or a decent video game knockoff of tomb raider? Call me pessimistic but I think Indy will win this one.
