My journey through World of Warcraft went something like this: As a noob, I rolled a human fighter and learned the ropes leveling up in my PVE server (strictly Carebear here) with my friends until I reached about level 35. Then I had an important realization: Only squares roll Alliance. So I started back at the beginning with a face-melting undead priest who never healed anyone but herself. But I had to go back to level one and start from scratch. I know what hardship is. Also, I had to walk to school 10 miles through the snow.
Kids today, though, have everything handed to them on a silver platter, and soon won't have to sacrifice to switch sides. Blizzard has announced it will allow Warcraft players who mistakenly chose Alliance to switch sides and play Horde. For a fee.
It might be awhile, though. According to Blizzard:
There’s still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use the service to transform an existing character into a roughly equivalent character of the opposing faction on the same realm...The number of variables involved increases the complexity of implementing this service, but we plan to take the time needed to ensure that it lives up to expectations before officially rolling it out.
Like most World of Warcraft innovation, if you want to be first on your block to see how it works, check out the public test realms, where pieces of the faction switching technology will be rolled out gradually.
Personally, I'm against the idea. What good is choosing sides if you can just go back and forth between them with ease? What do you think? Is Warcraft faction switching a good idea or lame? How much do you think it worth?

Warcraft is great, but its one of those things where it starts out great and then they start changing everything simply because people cry about it, even if it goes against what made the game truely awesome to begin with.

World of Warcraft is a great game. Seriously though, if you can't make up your friggin mind what you want to be before you start playing that's really kinda sad. I was already mad when getting a mount was at lvl 40, then after a while it was lvl 30, soon it will be lvl 20. If the game goes through anymore changes like this, we might as well call it World of Wiicraft.

idk ive just been kinda thinking that it might be fun to see what a horde is like but i didnt want to start over and in our server horde always wins bg so maybe horde will lose if all the dumb people of alliance switch this faction changing has its pros and cons

3v3 arena ruined the game.

the game went downhill with the inclusion of arena pvp. now the pve content is ruined because of crappy 3v3 teams who get owned by better players.
blizz should have just made a new set of rules for pvp. with everything they do i don't see why that would have been difficult.

WoW has been going downhill since the change of mana regen... or maybe earlier

there isn't enough info for me to really make a serious comment on this. what about pvp servers? what if you have like 7 characters? can't have both factions... is this a pve server only? what about faction earned mounts? need more info.

I think this is the beginning of the end for the Alliance. What sad, sad person would transfer from Horde to Alliance? (besides 4rliss)

I actually agree with it. On my server the amount of Horde completely overwelms the amount of Aliance. I cant ever do certain things because horde always controls it. OR there arent enought alliance players ect. I would pay for a player move, but then I would lose all my contacts and guild. It would be easier to switch over to alliance and then I could also revisit all the alliance quests.

I hate to say it but the game has become TOO user friendly.
Some things just have to be concrete for a game to make sense and you'd figure this would be one of them. Unless theyre prepping to surgically remove this game in favour of their next MMO. Anyway, Diablo3 plx.

the other day...my guild was in Ulduar...in the middle of the Hodir fight I decided I wasn't having fun anymore. I closed the client, closed vent, and cancelled my account while the guild was downing Hodir. I don't think faction switching will bring me back. Sorry blizz. Release D3.

Sounds cool i have a Night Elf Dk and it would be cool to switch over to horde i have always wanted to try playing that faction, but since my friends don't play and i got bored playing by myself so i quit. Maybe i will go back.

thay should have a down side with switch sides from Alliance to Horde and back agen and 1h to become on the new side and 72h till you can switch sides agen.
