Faction Switching Coming To World of Warcraft

For the HordeMy journey through World of Warcraft went something like this: As a noob, I rolled a human fighter and learned the ropes leveling up in my PVE server (strictly Carebear here) with my friends until I reached about level 35. Then I had an important realization: Only squares roll Alliance. So I started back at the beginning with a face-melting undead priest who never healed anyone but herself. But I had to go back to level one and start from scratch. I know what hardship is. Also, I had to walk to school 10 miles through the snow.

Kids today, though, have everything handed to them on a silver platter, and soon won't have to sacrifice to switch sides. Blizzard has announced it will allow Warcraft players who mistakenly chose Alliance to switch sides and play Horde. For a fee.

It might be awhile, though. According to Blizzard:

There’s still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use the service to transform an existing character into a roughly equivalent character of the opposing faction on the same realm...The number of variables involved increases the complexity of implementing this service, but we plan to take the time needed to ensure that it lives up to expectations before officially rolling it out.

Like most World of Warcraft innovation, if you want to be first on your block to see how it works, check out the public test realms, where pieces of the faction switching technology will be rolled out gradually.

Personally, I'm against the idea. What good is choosing sides if you can just go back and forth between them with ease? What do you think? Is Warcraft faction switching a good idea or lame? How much do you think it worth?

Cool, now it's possible for people from the Horde to buy an Alliance mount from the Alliance stables or the Alliance marketplace, or do one of the Alliace quests to achieve a rare Alliance mount. And, if you're a mount and Horde enthusiast, now you can simply secede to the Alliance, buy the mount, and come back to the Horde. Though, there is the question of how much betrayal will cost your reputation points if you've decided to come back to your character's home faction.

actually i wouldnt mind going alliance for a while cause horde NEVER wins BG's i have switched servers twice allready and both times it feels like 5 vs 50. i am just starting to learn to just enter and stand there move my char a few feet then go back to watching tv. now some of you might say "then why dont i try" .... but after 50 stright battles with soo many losses and so many unmached bs's its just better to not do anything and get my one mark than spend 15 min. running around dieng becuse there is a sea of red alliance names and 3 of us running into death....

I don't think this will be that big of a problem if the fee is high enough. if its like 5 bucks then yeah lots of ppl will switch, if not then i doubt it.

Good job, Blizz. You just lost another customer. I was on here earlier talking about how it's a "great game;" at least, it WAS a great game until they decided to make these ridiculous changes, and the faction switching was the last straw. My GF is playing "Cooking Mama" in the background and I see no difference in the two games. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to prepare for massive amount of worthy XBOX games coming out in the fall.

City of Heroes announced an expansion a couple weeks ago that will let you switch sides. Pretty much the same idea and you get to keep your class. My dad and I used to play WoW. It got really boring with all the farming. People got too serious about it and it lost its soul somewhere during the first expansion.

honestly I think this is a stupid idea. It's one thing to switch severs or even genders, but come on this is just too much.

I think it is only a good idea if you can only do it once. choosing a team on WOW is something you have to commit to. So if you change team you have to be commited to hating the other. So it might be good if you can only do it once.

Whats next, for a fee you will be able to mix any race, profession and faction? Alliance rogue taurens? Horde gnome shamans? Blizzard is trying to please everyone and by making that destroying the game, there is a reason why you cant eat the cake and have it at the same time.

World of Warcraft is a joke now. I don't know how much further they can beat this game into the dirt.

It's gotten so boring farming! Everything must be farmed, gear, whatever. The only reason I never killed myself while playing was the chance to talk to old friends I hadn't seen in about 3 years. Why even play when you can just wait to get everything handed to you at the very beginning.

world of warcraft was great before The Burning Crusade. I have played that game for over 150 Days played (I know I had no life), but with the 2 expansions they have ruined the games. Mounts at lvl 40 and 20 is un-warcraft, and with this, they have reached the final straw.
