Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura is an extremely busy man. Working on huge project after huge project, it seems like he hasn't been able to take a deep breath since his critically acclaimed work on Final Fantasy VII. Kingdom Hearts fans, while pleased that they'll be getting 358/2 Days for Nintendo DS and Birth by Sleep for Sony PSP, have been clamoring for details on a true sequel. In a recent interview with GoNintendo, Nomura said that he really hasn't thought about it (much):
"Right now I’m busy with Birth by Sleep and FF13: Versus, let’s think about the future plans of Kingdom Hearts slowly. But the next Kingdom Hearts is not restricted to Kingdom Hearts 3. However it won’t be a side story, but an authentic addition. Separate from that, I’m thinking on the things of Kingdom Hearts 3."
Working on two major games is an acceptable excuse...I suppose. Personally, I like that Square Enix is expanding on the Kingdom Hearts' universe and filling in details with prequels and side stories. It helps explain some of the convoluted details that were, perhaps, lost in translation. Speaking of which, Nomura revealed the meaning behind the title 358/2 Days. Hit the break to find out!
"The meaning of 358/2 Days refers to the passing of 358 days of 2 people. I wanted people to imagine it’s meaning in various ways."
I'm pretty sure he also enjoyed confusing people and reading silly theories on what the actual meaning was. Nomura is funny like that.
From comments I've read here before, I know that quite a few of you are anxious for Kingdom Hearts 3. Are you disappointed that the game hasn't been fully conceptualized yet?

PS...PS3 has begun to stink..ok PLaystation in general. They got rid of Backwards compatability...and for those who say so what it just take sup space that could be used for better things like graphics...stow it, all of you. You have no clue what your tlakign about, even professionals think you all are conceited and have no clue what your spekaing of....back to what I was saying, PS is trying to froce folks to buy nerw systems and then spend more money buying games folks already have. That is the number one reaosn i have yet to buy PS3. Sorry but I have KH KHII and if i buy a PS3 I trade in my PS2 for store credit, but no, Sony has a buntch of idiots wokring in thier company that don't think and are only interested in money, so yeah I hope KH3 becomes multi platform, just so it screws with Playstation owners who complain about Backwards Compatibility.

KH3 is a long ways in coming, though i've heard rumors of an anime or movie[CGI or hand drawn]. If thats the case i'll wait for the game and watch the series or movie.

i hope its for both 360 and ps3 because when i bought my 360 i wasnt planning on saving 500 dollars for a consol that's only game was resistance fall of man. i mean kingdom hearts is my all time favorite game and i wanted it but gave up when it took me 2 years to get 200 dollars(i dont have a job) and i would hate to not get the next addition cuz i dont have enough money to get a ps3

I'm a little disappointed over the KH3 taking so long, but FF13:Versus looks awesome and it's supposed to play similarly to the Kingdom Hearts games. Besisdes, there are still a lot of exciting games to come.

I want to play with wall-e in KH3! and now i finally know that KH3 is still around cause i saw the taser at the end of KH2 and it has been years since then

It should be on both the 360 and the PS3. Because I'm not gonna buy a PS3 for just one game.

Aaaaah Kingdom Hearts, good times, goooood times. I remember getting all the little sidenotes and doing all the sidequests, getting the Ultima blade and the 20 times I tried to kill Sepiroth w/ it :P. I'd love to see the trilogy, yet I fear it is long in the making. But whatever, I'll keep being a Valve Junkie until then :D

I really wish Tetsuya Nomura would finish FFvs13 soon I really want to play a main FF game, FFvs13 looks better than ff13. Also I hope KH3 comes to the ps3 soon and I hope it is way better than KH2.

@LucasFFXI I wasn't talking about the actual project, but the plot and concept behind it. It's a bit surprising that the general plot isn't nailed down yet...if Nomura isn't being coy.

I think rushing them to do more projects would slow them down and cause game delays. Nobody wants games to be delayed, right?

I would love to be able to play Kingdom Hearts 3, even if it seems like it'll be a long wait. Even if it doesn't come out, I'm thankful that we'll at least be getting 358/2 days and Birth by Sleep.

@Killua_Zoldyck I don't think Nomura wields the kind of power Kojima has at Konami. I'd guess that the platform decisions are more up to executives than creators at Square Enix.

I have a sense that Nomura may go the way of Kojima, doing a multiplatform side story and then a true Kingdom Hearts 3 for PS3

@blackleo81 You'll be getting GoW and Jack soon enough. I don't know if there are any plans to make KH3 multiplatform. I hope it stays exclusive on PS3 so that it gets done ASAP.
@Valentinog Not that I know of. I imagine 2010 though.
