It seems like everyone's talking about Red Faction: Guerrilla, Volition's open-world, destruction-heavy action game. Buzz doesn't always translate into sales, but THQ CEO Brian Farrell, speaking to me this morning the company's recent internal restructuring (look for more soon), said the company's happy with what the company's tracking so far.
"The buzz is great," said Farrell. "We've been pleased with the initial results -- obviously, it's only been a couple of weeks, but what we've seen in the marketplace, both here and in Europe and Asia, we've been very pleased so far. I've been in this business game long enough to know that an 85-rated game [according to Metacritic] will have pretty long legs."
It's a few weeks until we know how Red Faction: Guerrilla performed in its first month at retail, but Farrell's right; it has the entire summer to keep generating new fans. Look for more with Farrell soon.

Oh yeah guys, if you play online demo, just realize they stuck you with one of the lamest gameplay modes and lamest map in the game. Seriously. The destruction is much better, 20x better in almost every map but the demo map. Also, personally the best mode is 'siege', far, far better than the one in the demo. (which is fun given better levels, weapons, etc).
There might be better 'rated' online shooters coming out at the end of the year, like CoD:MW2, but I doubt if any of them will be as much fun as this. (they'll be fun, but I'm telling you, there's nothing like Red Faction: Guerrilla out there). Kind of just pulls at you, hell I'm going to play now.

The backpacks; Rhino-think like a bull charging...busts through buildings, fleetfoot - run 3x faster or so than anyone else, stealth - invisibility, firepower - make any of your weapons 2 or 3x more powerful, thrust - think bobba fett, jet pack - similar but controllable instead of like thrust which is a one click blastoff, tremor - which is used to create earthquakes or if you're smart you use it when someone is around you and they can't aim their weapon at you, heal - heals you and anyone within the bubble, vision - allowing you to see through walls - long range like 1/2 or 1/3 the map. In other words you'll be running towards guys for 10-20 seconds because you can see them through walls and such from such a distance. I think I'm forgetting a backpack, but overall once you learn to use them, the battles can get real intense.

The backpacks add such depth to the gameplay it's unreal. You have great weapons, strategic backpacks, and a physics engine at your disposal. Your mind is your only hold back on how you kill some fool.

I'll put it to you this way. There are 2 awesome games in this game.
1. Awesome first person shooter
2. Awesome physics destruction game
Each one would be a blast separately. Together, you get one of the best games ever made. Oh maybe it doesn't have a Star Wars soundtrack, or Crysis visuals. But gameplay wise, no battlefront or crysis, or CoD can match this game. It's a bit different so you have to get used to it. Takes 20-30-50 matches to get a feel for the game/shooting mechanics.

You'll be talking about this game 5 years from now. That's why you should buy it. You'll be judging future online shooters to THIS game. CoD, KZ2, Res2 has nothing on this game. Those are great games, and I like them all, but the online portion to this game in terms of fun, blows all 3 out of the water. Hell buy all 3 of those games, then this game. I bet you have more fun on this game. Then all 3 of the others combined. If not, it's dang close.

I downloaded the demo while I was in a hotel out of town. I went and picked up the full game the next day for my PS3. The game is just a whole lot of fun. I love destroying the buildings and even the way the creak and fall when they get unstable.

yea this is a fun game, especially if your into that kind of thing, but after i beat it i was like wow, that wasn't as much as i thought, and the multiplayer kind of sucked, i mean i can see how it could be fun but just not my kind of game

multiplayer boring? Run and gun? EVERY multiplayer fps is run and gun, but RFG adds destruction, seige most notably. I mean what other game allows you to kill a person by crushing them inside a building? I didn't even buy the game for its multiplayer, I never even planned on using it until I played a few matches with some of my friends.
If anything, you can at least get a few nights in dicking around with your friends in stupid game modes like all singularity bombs.....hide and seek.... stuff like that.

The game is amazingly fun. last night me and my friends played a sort of 'Hide and seek" match online. heh its hilarious to break into a crate and use the reconstructor to hide yourself inside.
Honestly this game is way funner than the other sandbox game to have come out recently, Prototype. It wasn't near as entertaining/replayable. Can't compare it to infamous though since i do not own a PS3, but really this game is worth picking up.
