Close To Half Of The Original Crackdown Team Are Working On The SequelClearly, the relationship between Dundee, Scotland-based development studios Realtime Worlds and Ruffian Games is a professionally, geographically and personally compelling one. Just last week, Realtime Worlds head David Jones revealed that he was somewhat frustrated when Ruffian Games was tapped to develop Crackdown 2, the sequel to Realtime’s first Xbox 360 offering.

And while it’s well known that Ruffian was co-founded by several former Realtime developers, it wasn't exactly clear until now how many former Realtime employees were in fact working on Crackdown 2 for Ruffian. However, in a new interview with Edge Magazine, Ruffian’s creative director Billy Thompson has revealed:

“Close to half our team worked on the original game. We’ve got core members from every discipline who worked on it, the majority of the design team, and, depending on whom you speak to, some of the best coders and most talented artists. But there are still guys at Realtime we want to be friends with, so we don’t want to get dragged into a slanging match.”
Thompson’s comments certainly have an air of healthy competition to them, and they also seem genuine enough to suggest that things aren’t nearly as tense or awkward as they could be between these two studios.
