Activision has issued a message of congratulations to id Software, who was acquired by ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, this morning. id Software has been a longstanding collaborator, essentially becoming the publisher's shooter division for many years. Their final release will be this summer's Raven Software-developed Wolfenstein, overseen by id Software.
"Activision and id Software have enjoyed a valued and long-standing history together," the company said in a brief statement to me this afternoon. "We are excited to continue our partnership this summer with the launch of id Software’s Wolfenstein. We congratulate id and wish them well on their new endeavors."
This echoes the same sentiments as Epic Games' Mark Rein. How will the congratulatory parties feel in a few years, however, when id Software's output is ZeniMax's alone?
