Gears of War 2 might be sitting in the fourth spot on the most current list of the top played games on Xbox Live, but there is still a ridiculous amount of people tearing through hordes, and each other, at any given time. Well, those players will be pleased to know (depending on how much you love/hate varying aspects of Gears 2 multiplayer) that Epic Games has announced that a pretty substantial update is on the way.
The list of additions and fixes is lengthy, so if you’re really interested in all the finer details, then I suggest checking it out. If you’re just looking for a few of the major points, here’s what you can expect from the new update:
- The ability to collect multiplayer experience by playing Horde mode. Players currently gain experience at this rate:
- 50 points per completed Casual wave
- 75 points per completed Normal wave
- 100 points per completed Hardcore wave
- 125 points per completed Insane wave
- The ability to restart Public Horde from the current failed wave instead of having to start over from wave 1. Title Update 4 also allows the host to kick players from a Public Horde session.
- Increases the frequency of downloadable content (DLC) maps showing up in map voting if all players have shared map packs.
- A message at the end of the match to explain to players that they should wait before quitting so that they avoid an experience penalty for quitting early.
- Support for the new campaign chapter, "Road to Ruin."
- 13 new achievements worth 325 points. All of the new achievements require the Dark Corners Map Pack, a set of seven new maps and a deleted campaign chapter to be released July 28.
- Going down but not out (DBNO) in Horde now subtracts 50 points, so there is no advantage to using the revive-bonus technique.
There are quite a few exploit fixes and general tweaks as well that will undoubtedly frustrate those players who have found ways to cheat the game in various ways.

I thought that Gears 2 was supposed to be selling for 30 bucks. I just went to 5 stores and no one is selling it for that price. It's more. I thought for 30 I'd give it a try--my nephew loves the game-thought maybe we'd get to play online--Anyone know where its only 30.?? I live in NE Ohio

if you can find a good game this game is sick i love it. teamwork is necessary and theres skill involved. then theres the games that gives this game a bad rep wen theyre either laggy or the opposing team is gay. laggy games like wen u dont spawn with a gun or theres a 5 second lag between u shooting and the bullets appearing. but the worst thing i think is when the whole other team spams smokes at u and outnumbers u

i never liked gears of wars multiplayer anyway, its fantastic when it comes to singleplayer and coop better than halo3

I love to play gears 2 online but i get sick of the lag, how long it takes to find a match, people who quit, and how people just come up and kill ou with the chainsaw or shotgun, so i stopped playing that game, although with yet another title update i will play it agian. Until now i play red faction

Hahahahaha. "M$ is just releasing the update to compete with the goddess known as "Killzone 2".. Hahaha Microsoft doesn't OWN Epic Games. Maybe $ony forces the creaters of Killzone 2 to release updates but some companies such as Epic Studios CARES about their customers, and actually like to create DLC so that people can enjoy the game. On that note, i know you were Jk but still it made me laugh. To Bizzaro; go play Infamous with its "86.69%". Make fun of gears with its 93.88% and 93.16%. Yeah, gears has a laggy multiplayer, but infamous has a bad story compared to gears.
