Unlike GameStop, Amazon.com has their entire trade-in database online, allowing users to browse freely, rather than heading to the store. Curiously enough, however, games released just this week, such as Ghostbusters: The Video Game, won't net you the most trade-in value with Amazon.com. It's actually an old classic. Hint: it's a Nintendo one.
Can you guess?
Time's up! If you have a copy of Earthbound for the SNES, you currently hold the most desired trade-in game featured in Amazon.com's service, which launched earlier this year. Earthbound currently fetches a whopping $30.00 through Amazon.com. Earthbound is worth more than Ghostbusters: The Video Game ($26.50), Punch-Out!!! ($27.50) or inFamous ($26.00).
You might want to think twice before doing so, though. Click through to Amazon.com's own listing page for Earthbound and there are sellers currently offloading their copies of Earthbound at $95 a pop. $95 in cash vs. $30 in Amazon.com credit?
Still, it's interesting such an old title can catch more than today's blockbusters. I wasn't able to sift through all of Amazon.com's listings, so if you happen to find a trade-in value that's more than $30.00 (and isn't a peripheral-based game), let me know.

Nobody is getting my copy of EarthBound. It is my absolute favorite game of all time.

Lol, that's what my room looks like. I'm missing a few that didn't have games I liked such as the Neo Geo or Lynx, but I own others not shown like PSP, Virtual Boy, a few older than the Atari, Nomad, etc. My pictures also are not ruined by the presence of an XB or 360. Those things are so bad they shouldn't even be included in the market.
Anyway I own many games that would fetch a good price including this game PLUS the guide/manual. No box sadly. Goes to show you that classics never die.

i had a neo geo, arcade perfect samurai showdown for the fulkin win

There's a Wii in that picture...it's on top of the 360 and PS3 (just out of camera).

Suikoden II for PlayStation, Windows 98
Trade-in Value: $30.00 which ties Earthbound.

That actually doesn't surprise me. But then I went coasting for that game for a while and Whoooo is it in demand. Was it really that limited of a release?

For some reason Sega Sports: NCAA College Basketball 2K3 for Nintendo Gamecube has a trae in value of $37.50

Chest-master the Art of Learning for the Nintendo DS has a trade in value of $32.00 which would make it more valuable than the $30.00 Earthbound.

Totally not surprising. Earthbound is the greatest game ever. I have no idea why we haven't gotten the sequel to it. I've been tricked by nostalgia before, but even in recent play-throughs of Earthbound I've had more fun than virtually all recent games.

I would love to have a Sega Game Gear again. I played it to death.

I'm not surprised either. That game is diesel!

I've seem a similar trend in SNES games at my local used game store (non-GameStop). They have used copies of Secret of Mana & Chrono Trigger going for $30 - $40 each depending on their wear. Super Punch out for $26.

Those are A LOT of systems...

I'm not surprised, Mother fans are very VERY loyal to that series, they treat it like its a bible.

before you sell to amazon i strongly suggest calling up your local game stop and seeing how much they offer. Im personally not a fan of gamestop and order mostly everything from amazon, but i made an extra 70 dollars by going to gamestop as well as my total was large enough to warrant buying an edge card that paid for itself and got me a subscription to game informer as well.

Yea I actually just went about looking at the lists recently and I am not shocked at all by Earthbound being the biggest return. Its the only one I dont own myself actually and keep kicking myself to get a copy. I love seeing my childhood crap becoming some of the most desired items by a lot of people. Who knows if I will ever sell them though.

There is no Wii up there lol.
