Update: Oops. The project lead of Dead Before Dawn is Darth_Brush, and the "gonna kick Valve's maps off the maps" quote should be attributed to StephanBotha.
How's this for an awesome mash-up: A campaign based on The Crossroads Mall from the 2004 remake of the Dawn of the Dead is coming to Left 4 Dead. According to
project lead Method StephanBotha, the campaign's promoter, Dead Before Dawn is "gonna kick Valve's maps off the map and that's a promise."
Originally designed for the Source Engine, Dead Before Dawn was put together by programmers, musicians, level designers and other creative types from L4DMods.com and should be out this summer. Expect original music, full plot, various event triggers and other surprises, all based on the killer zombie flick Dawn of the Dead. Could you ask for anything more?
Well, maybe you could. I'd love to see a campaign based on Romero's original Dawn of the Dead. As a huge 70s horror nerd, I want to see the original represented...of course, you couldn't do it without totally altering the game. As we all know, Romero's zombies were weak and slow, where Left 4 Dead's are occasionally fast -- plus, you couldn't have a campaign based on original Dawn of the Dead without a motorcycle gang enemy!
