If Activision Drops PS3 Support, Here's What PS3 Owners Can't Play

Activision is threatening to drop support for PlayStation 3 (and PSP, but let's focus on the big target here) if Sony doesn't drop the price of their hardware soon. As the world's largest third-party publisher, Activision wields power. If Activision made good on their threats, what would be the impact?

I combed through the company's upcoming release calendar for the rest of 2009 and produced a list of games PlayStation 3 owners wouldn't see if Activision drops support for the platform. Note: This has almost zero chance of happenning, as most of these games are nearly finished. It's merely a "what if?" scenario.

Let me know if there's anything missing, but if Activision drops support for PlayStation 3, here's the games that wouldn't be appearing on the machine in 2009:

Which game would you miss the most? Something tells me it's not Ice Age.

I honestly don't care. Guitar Hero has been milked beyond death. Everyone I know has moved onto Rock Band. Guitar Hero trying to be competitive and add instruments is just identity crisis.

The only major hit were for this to happen now would be Modern Warfare 2. I actually think this is for the better. The only Activision game I own is COD:MW. So it's not a huge loss to me. Sony can use that extra money and create a brand new first party company.

GH 5, and MW 2 are the only two that care about, and I still dont understand why I should keep buying new versions of guitar hero when DLC and patches should make that pointless anyway!

Just when it seems the PS3 is finally getting some good press and great lineup of games, Sony gets knock back a few steps.

What this guy is afraid of is people going to pick up a $400
console and actual games to play, no one is going to look twice at their overly expensive DJ and Guitar Hero.

It would be nice to see a price cut on the PS3, but to be honest, it is worth the $400 they charge for it. As far as Activision, who cares. If they should be doing anything, it should be lowering the prices on their crappy games. But whatever. I'm sure MW2 will be great, but I personally don't care and Guitar Hero has be going down hill since Rock Band showed us what a real music game looks like. If activision cuts support for sony, then its good riddance to shovelware.

you can see the trend coming since prototype for the ps3 has to have you work a glitch to play the game.

the hits never stop coming from the folks at activision. never liked them, prevented myself from buying their games and nothing will ever change it. you can always cut the head of the beast(ceo) but i'm sure if you do more will pop up from activision to take his place.

Hmm, what do we have here?
    http://www.gamestop.com/lps3
Look at that best seller list. See that? four of those games are Activision. three of them have had their prices dropped.
See Activision? People don't hold out on your games because they can't buy a system, people don't buy your products because they don't have the money.
God that CEO is such a load of crap.

All I see is CoD:MW2...but thats a load because it's already been developed.

Other than that...BOO HOO! We wont be able to play any of Activision's crappy games! Oh no Prototype what happened!

How about every PS3 owner simply boycott Activision for their stupidity? That would make their plan backfire :)

    I'm officially boycotting Activision.

wow. mw2 looks like the only decent game on that list, but with all the copies they sold off the 1st one, they want to lose all those customers for not a good reason at all? i will agre that i think the ps3 is a tad high, but went i went and paid $500 for mine, i knew that i was getting a quality piece of hardware. i think that the xbox live fee has something to do with this. online play is their biggest catalyst.

Smart move by Activision like honestly third party developers have been saying this for how long and sony is doing nothing. Maybe finally some real threats will make them realize that they have to get there head out of there @$$ like come on its about time. But even if they don't almost all those games would come.

These games are gonna be downgraded on the PS3 just make it look the same with 360. If they're not gonna use the full potential of the PS3's power and just make these games look the same with 360, they can have it. None of the games in the list are in my interest at all.

Wow this is about the dumbest year for activision. I mean they already make money from there games selling on the ps3 and now they dont wanna publish anything for it cause of the cost of the system. that is a pathetic excuse for them to say. The ps3 won alot of good awards from E3 and now activision is stating this two weeks after the event. look at what there doing with brutal legend. Suing for 14m even though they ditched the idea on the game. This proves that not only activision has no ip's or brains.

So the only game that I'll miss is "Modern Warfare 2"? Wow, if that's the case, maybe they should stop supporting Sony. They're bringing down the average quality of PS3 games.

Too me this is a really stupid decision if activision goes with it. They already making a scene with brutal legend. and now with sony. man Act. doesnt like anybody at all. i mean the cost of making a next gen game is $50m. COD:W@W sold 3.3m on the ps3 world wide. so if you think about it they made $165m. I mean as long as the company makes money does it matter which system its on. This is never gonna happen at all. if they do there gonna lose alot of fans that only have a ps3 and now they want to make ps3 owners buy a 360 to play COD or any of there other brands.

I don't see PS3 owners getting upset over this. All they want for their PS3 is Flower, Fat Princess, and those new PS3 weenie wand motion controllers.
