If Activision Drops PS3 Support, Here's What PS3 Owners Can't Play

Activision is threatening to drop support for PlayStation 3 (and PSP, but let's focus on the big target here) if Sony doesn't drop the price of their hardware soon. As the world's largest third-party publisher, Activision wields power. If Activision made good on their threats, what would be the impact?

I combed through the company's upcoming release calendar for the rest of 2009 and produced a list of games PlayStation 3 owners wouldn't see if Activision drops support for the platform. Note: This has almost zero chance of happenning, as most of these games are nearly finished. It's merely a "what if?" scenario.

Let me know if there's anything missing, but if Activision drops support for PlayStation 3, here's the games that wouldn't be appearing on the machine in 2009:

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen -- June 23

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs -- June 30

Wolfenstein -- August 4

Guitar Hero 5 -- September 1

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 -- September 8

Singularity -- TBA

Cabela's Outdoor Adventure -- September 22

Tony Hawk: Ride -- October

Bakugan -- October

Modern Warfare 2 -- November 10

Chaotic -- November

Guitar Hero: Van Halen -- Fall

Band Hero -- Fall

Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2009 -- TBA

Which game would you miss the most? Something tells me it's not Ice Age.

So by you logic this mean games like DC Universe,Free Realms, and a few others are no longer PS3 exclusive since they can be played on the PC too but I'm sure you'll find a way to still claim that they are. And Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is a remake of Ninja Gaiden 2 so I guess we can't count that as an exclusive either.

And BTW your an idiot games like so Alan Wake , Mass Effect 2, Section 8 and others are games for Windows so it still goes into MS pocket. And IMO there is PC gaming and CONSOLE gaming. How many CONSOLES will L4D2,Mass Effect2,Alan Wake,Splinter Cell Convicition be on? Whats that? Just 1 console? The 360? Well damn I guess that still makes it exclusive to us.

i use to have a 360 but after 4 rrods, and paying 50 bucks a year for a online service were 90% of the ppl on there are racist kids i got tired of it, and most of its games are crap or can be found on your pc so why bother with the headaches when i can get most of the 360 crap on my pc? without worrying about rrod, disc scratches and not having to listen to a bunch of 12 year olds scream as loud as they can into there headsets

and in the end i spent more money on my 360 than i did on my ps3

i had to buy a wifi adapter to play online which was 100 bucks
i payed atleast 130 bucks for xbl and it wasnt even worth it
400 for the 360 in general
plus repairs which were 120
and a battery charger for 15 bucks

i payed 500 for my ps3 and payed for nothing else, except for upgradeing my ps3 with 500gb of memory

I never liked MGS or any of the FF games since NES had 'em. Don't care either way for those two. Exclusives - Have you forgotten Fable 2, Forza 2, or PGR? ALL great games you can't play on PS3. New stuff this year - Forza 3, L4D 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, & Mass Effect 2.

I read the whole article & understand what is says, so I'll tell you a little secret - I want a PS3, but won't pay $400 for it (I didn't pay $400 for my Halo Ed. 360 when it was first released). I've bashed all 3 systems(360 just happens to have what I want to play), so your fanboy retaliation falls on deaf ears.

I've said it before & I'll say it again - I WANT Sony to be successful. It has games I WANT to play, just got bored WAITING for them to come out (GT5, GoW3), but I also think Activision could make or break the PS3.

stop acting like l4d and halflife are 360 franchises, theyre way better on pc, infact half life started on pc same with portal, your taking pc franchises and acting like there 360 exclusives

LMAO! Acting like Wolfenstein, Guitar Hero ,Marvel: Ultimate Alliance , Singularity, Tony Hawk, and Modern Warfare aren't important multiplatform titles. Now I REALLY know you PS3 fanboys are making up stories. It always seems to be this way when the babies(PS3 owners) don't get their bottles. Look at what happens when Valve doesn't want to put their gaming gold on the PS3. You pretend Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Half Life are crappy franchises. Same with Splinter Cell Conviction. You act like the franchise isn't important and say stuff like "Oh well no big loss" or "Didn't want it anyway." Trust me you PS3 fanboys aren't fooling anyone but yourselves.

Um, last time I checked, this article said "What PS3 owners couldn't play", not Xbox, PC, or Wii. So posting on here if you don't have a PS3 proves the fact that YOU'RE being a fanboy yourself. Making fun of fanboys when YOU'RE a fanboy is hypocrisy also. In fact, this whole post itself is a fanboy magnet anyway.

and lets not forget how the 360 has the highest malfunction rate in the history of video gaming, the only reason why its ahead because it got a 14 month head start, and many people ended up buying other 360's because theres were breaking all the time, also my friend got a jasper chip 360 and 2 weeks later it breaks on him, ms didnt fix the rrod it still happens

You guys are something else. SUPPOSEDLY, none of you care if Activision drops Sony support. If you don't care, WHY ARE YOU POSTING? THAT'S being a hypocrite. You keep trying to justify it by saying their games suck, but that's OK cuz Activision is only THE BIGGEST 3RD PARTY GAME DEV ON THE PLANET.

I still haven't received a straight answer on why the Sony faithful don't want a price drop. You know what? Keep your answer, I don't care.

Activision probably won't drop anything except their idiot CEO who continues to talk out his @$$.

With this article being a hypothetical situation, what if Sony dropped all the add-ons you guys defend from their rebuilt PS3 (ie. o more card reader, just USB ports, no wi-fi, etc...)?

Amazing. Wolfenstein IS the only interesting game up there. Guitar Hero is just lame, everyone picks it up and automatically assumes that they know EVERYTHING about music. They ruined the series after the 1st one. Now when a Metallica song plays, someone has to say: "THAT WAS IN GUITAR HERO!!!!"

So, this would have no impact on me. I absolutely love the fact that Xbox fanboys are mad that this doesn't have much of an impact on some PS3 gamers. And speaking of which, it seems that fanboys (from both sides) are the only ones taking this in a non-hypothetical sense. Like I SAID BEFORE: Read the article again, and then comment on how STUPID you feel when you find out that THIS ISN'T SERIOUS.
