If Activision Drops PS3 Support, Here's What PS3 Owners Can't Play

Activision is threatening to drop support for PlayStation 3 (and PSP, but let's focus on the big target here) if Sony doesn't drop the price of their hardware soon. As the world's largest third-party publisher, Activision wields power. If Activision made good on their threats, what would be the impact?

I combed through the company's upcoming release calendar for the rest of 2009 and produced a list of games PlayStation 3 owners wouldn't see if Activision drops support for the platform. Note: This has almost zero chance of happenning, as most of these games are nearly finished. It's merely a "what if?" scenario.

Let me know if there's anything missing, but if Activision drops support for PlayStation 3, here's the games that wouldn't be appearing on the machine in 2009:

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen -- June 23

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs -- June 30

Wolfenstein -- August 4

Guitar Hero 5 -- September 1

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 -- September 8

Singularity -- TBA

Cabela's Outdoor Adventure -- September 22

Tony Hawk: Ride -- October

Bakugan -- October

Modern Warfare 2 -- November 10

Chaotic -- November

Guitar Hero: Van Halen -- Fall

Band Hero -- Fall

Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2009 -- TBA

Which game would you miss the most? Something tells me it's not Ice Age.

you can but its not very easy to get a game working with linux, its a great os, in general its better than both windows and mac osx but its hard to configure, which is why im a windows user, main reason is because of games, mac osx is pretty cool to

but im personally selling my 360, to unreliable, most of its games dont interest me except for mass effect, gear of war, and left 4 dead which i can get all on my pc (hoping gears2 comes out for pc)

I'm not jumping on your case. He never specified which OS he's using so I'm going to assume it's Windows-based. Not trying to sound too snarky, but if memory serves me correct it's also impossible to play the games he listed on a Mac-based OS. Tho I could be wrong based on how fast technology advances.

im a linux user, i use to respect windows but after dealing with tha mess vista, i lost all respect for the os

and i can play games fine on linux

plus another thing the 360 doesnt really have a whole lot of variety, most of its games are shooters, which are better on pc with a mouse and keyboard, with the occasional jrpgs, and so far all the jrpgs suck on the 360, the ps1 and ps2 are the consoles you go to for real jrpg experiences

but ppl dont take me as a console hater, i love nintendo when i get the chance ill buy a wii, and im planning on getting a ps3 for games like god of war3,heavenly sword, motorstorm,valkyria chronicles, mgs4(im a huge mgs fan),lbp,ratchet,uncharted was a blast and many more, also infamous which was great

personally i perfer a pc over any next gen consoles. mainly because

1) not a graphics whore but pc is still the graphics king
2)mods which add endless replay value, something consoles will never get
3)performance i can upgrade my pc for about 500$ and play any game on max
4)controls mouse/keyboard is the best for fps,rts, and most rpgs, if i want i could always plug in a controller and play my pc games, and hook up my pc to my 60 inch sony as my monitor
5) online is superior, more ppl online, can support more ppl during a match, plus less laggy

and thats why i game more on the pc, i have a 360 and tbh it sucks. i dont even know why i have it, i havent played it since halowars which was crap compared to all the other rts like starcraft and dawn of war

PSN is free, right? XBOX Live costs around $50/year, right? Live continues to charge my credit card on an annual basis until I disconnect from the service driving up the price of the system. Are you still following my logic? If the 360 owners are SO poor, why do we continue to pay for XBOX Live?

Go find another site on which you can pretend to be rich.

I'm not trying to convince you to buy ANYTHING. I tried to stay on topic & help people realize the potential repercussions of COD & Tony Hawk leaving Sony. BUT, as usual, the fanboys side-step the issue & change the topic.

Like I said earlier, I WANT Sony to succeed. I WANT to play GT5 & GoW3. I didn't want to nit-pick, but - YOU don't like Forza? I don't like that I can hit a wall in ANY GT game @ 200 MPH & my car doesn't have a scratch to show for it. Forza also allows me to FULLY customize the paint scheme to put my dad's stock car on display. Can't do that w/ GT.

As for your PC comparison, I surf the web & do reports on my laptop - NO GAMES ALLOWED. Bringing me full-circle to directly calling YOU a hypocrite - You game on a PC? Probably runs a Windows-based OS? After all of your griping about how Microsoft burned you on a 360 you're STILL putting $$ in their pocket.

If you are too poor to pay 400 dollars for a system that is worth twice that, how are you going to pay 60 dollars for the games?
I think PS3 is fine letting the poor whiny people settle for XBOXes.

there not going to the ps3 and wii, but there still going to the pc which is still a gaming platform which makes the games not 360 exclusive, and i have a gaming pc that can run crysis on max

so what reason is there for me to buy a 360 when i can get most of the games on the pc? i also have a ps3,wii,ds, saving money on a psp, what the 360 has to offer in terms of games i can get most of it on my pc, and even the ones that arnt on pc i could care less about

left 4 dead on the 360 doesnt compare to the pc version, even most 360 owners i know have it for the pc because anyone with brains knows that the only way to truely experience valves awesomeness is on the pc

ok act-wrong is the largest third party dev. . y? g. hero is over done, i can a rats ass about ice age, transformer, and all the other games for that matter. the only one i care about is modern warfare 2, but still with all the fps that have strong arm the consoles the past year, it needs to be put to bed. i could less i got heavy rain coming soon so i'm good!

do you know what exclusive means? it means that it can only be found on one gaming platform and nothing else and those games that you listed are also on another gaming platform the pc

i never claimed to be exclusive and stop treating section8 like its a 360 game its also coming out for the ps3 and pc, and by your logic if its games for windows its still considered a 360 game

crysis,dawn of war,cryostasis,empire total war are now 360 exclusives? i never knew

You're reminding me of my 7-year-old - She lets me say what I have to say, but already has it made up in her mind what she wants to hear. I TRULY hate to hear when somebody has trouble w/ a console whether it's a factory lemon or not, but I bought a 360 even after hearing about RROD & got mine fixed under extended warranty. As for racist kids whining in your ear, you have the option of muting them or jumping into a party w/ friends. Question - SERIOUSLY, if the system is SO bad, why are people STILL buying it(even w/ RROD & E74)? Answer - It has games that A LOT of people want to play. FYI - The exclusives you listed aren't going to PS3 or WII, so, in a way, they ARE exclusives.
