If Activision Drops PS3 Support, Here's What PS3 Owners Can't Play

Activision is threatening to drop support for PlayStation 3 (and PSP, but let's focus on the big target here) if Sony doesn't drop the price of their hardware soon. As the world's largest third-party publisher, Activision wields power. If Activision made good on their threats, what would be the impact?

I combed through the company's upcoming release calendar for the rest of 2009 and produced a list of games PlayStation 3 owners wouldn't see if Activision drops support for the platform. Note: This has almost zero chance of happenning, as most of these games are nearly finished. It's merely a "what if?" scenario.

Let me know if there's anything missing, but if Activision drops support for PlayStation 3, here's the games that wouldn't be appearing on the machine in 2009:

Which game would you miss the most? Something tells me it's not Ice Age.

If Activision did something so foolish as to drop support of the PS3, I would just stop buying games published by them. Stop QQing Activision.. *sigh*.

Oh NO what a shame that this shameful list of crap might not make it next year to the PS3. Just look at the 3+ installments of a game already out in this list. Riding the wave of sure sales will catch up with you quick. Unfortunate for Activision these titles are no-longer sure sales with PS3 owners. If a game has sales of 10 Million, what makes you thing that more of either system will increase the sales. Between both the PS3 and XBOX 360 there has got to be over 50 million unites sold yet your games sales numbers still hover around 10 million. Dump the PS3 support already and lets see your sales figures drop almost in half, you already use the bottom of the barrel severs for your multiplayer games that you put out on the PS3. So stop winning about the price and just move on to so-called greater things.

Sure no MW2 is bad but not the end of the world because they still have Final Fantasy 13, Ubisoft's Assassins Creed II, EA's Dante's Infoerno, Brutal Legend, and Battlefield Bad Company 2 so never say sony has no third party support

This realy isnt going to hurt avtivision because it cost lots of money to develope games that arent going to be bought on the PS3 so it is sort of a smart move but it is a little bit irrashional. Its going to hurt Sony very badly and only increase the sales of the 360. And just think if Activion stops supporting Sony. Then others will follow (EA , Ubisoft) Sony will loose all 3rd party support and will have no good multiplatformers. Ps3 sales will at least by 50%.

Other than MW2 which I may not get it anyway, all the other games listed are crap, he's not making less money because there is less PS3s sold but because most of his games are crap, even MW or CoD what ever you want to call it is pretty much the same game with just some new skins for the characters and a few new maps but usually it's all the same CoD point and shoot, even the voice acting is the same, this last Wolverine game was cool but it was full of bugs also, now... I know Actvision isn't the developer of this games I mention so it is one more reason they should STFU and do their job and let others do theirs, how would they like to someone come and tell them they should lower their price in their games, put a big fat nose in their business, it's ridiculous and very unprofessional.

Add Bruce_Lee2099 and L33T360 to the xbot list. Must make a mental note of this.

If Activision doesnt like the numbers Guitar Hero is getting, then maybe they should stop coming out with 2 or 3 Guitar Hero games every year. Activision expects people to pay $120-$180 a year just to play Guitar Hero? No wonder sales numbers are supposedly low. Activision needs to come down to earth and realize they are not so godly as to only develop for one system. And activision talks about losing money? They have spent alot of money for PS3 development already. They would lose even more money if they dropped the PS3 completely.

Guitar Hero can go straight to hell. I prefer Rock Band now.. anyways. the only game that I want is COD:MW2 that's it. If Activision actually pulls this off. I'll guess that I'll be play M.A.G., Killzone 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Have a good day gentlemen.

The entire premise of the article is idiotic, but then I guess you need to post something to keep the banner ad impression numbers up.

100 percent this will never happen. There will be no drop of ps3 games from Activision especially games like modern warfare 2 which is crazy. I do think there will be a 100 price cut on the ps3 in August and possibly it will be a new slim ps3 due to the fact making it slimmer would save money for sony.

The only ones I care about in that list are GH5 and GH Van Halen and even then I'm not very enthusiastic about them. Activision dropping wouldn't have much impact on my life.

Again like in the original post of this subject, I do see Sony dropping the price anyway and I still see Activision supporting the PS3. Activision bluffs and bullies a lot and the CEO is just saying what he said so he can get more media attention. I do like certain games that they publish but the company itself just bullies to get ahead in the gaming industry. I respect what they've done over the years in terms of being around since the Atari age but I don't respect some of their business methods but I guess when a company only cares about money they'll use that money to throw their weight around. Anyway like I said they've said thing like this in the past and Sony's dropping the price likely by holiday season 2009 anyway so I'm sure Activision and their millions of dollars can wait a little longer.

The only games I would miss are Ultimate Alliance 2 and MW2. I can't stand how Guitar Hero has been whored out for the masses and quite frankly Rock Band is more fun. Also the exclusivity thing with bands today is as tired as all the movie reboots that have been going on, so none of my hard earned cash goes to GH. If ActiBlizzard decides to do this, I will not buy any of their games, even though I own a 360 and a PS3...also through hard earned money. Activision...wake up!! All your fans are not 360 owners. Alienating those that aren't isn't a very good business plan.

I was hoping for MW2 on the PS3, but at same time hopeing MAG would be better. Dought this happens but at the same time Activision is the wrong Dev's to pull this kind of stunt, All the GH's they put out and charge $60.00 for when all they need to do is add the new songs as DLC, just put out a greatest hit package as DLC, $1.99 a song, but no they have to create whole new game, Activision is a rip. The PS3 to me is worth the $499.00 I paid and they have $399.00 version. That price is fine. That's with 80g Hard drive, Blu-Ray player, online access, WiFi built in, and best gameing console on the market.

Anyway I'm banking on Zipper to kill Activision with MAG verse MW2, I think that Activision does not want to compete against Sony's 1st party dev's, Even Slant/6's Socom Confrontation runs better then Call of Duty 4 and everyone complains about its issues, but COD4:
    Host ended game
Unable to join as soon as the game starts
Party drops members as soon as leader joins games
