How can you get mad at a developer who constantly releases kick ass games and gives you dlc that is free. Seeing that L4D 2 is coming out just a year after the first is awsome.

Kind of cheesy with the music and soundbytes.
This still makes me laugh:

I see what your saying and I do believe in Valve the company. I'm happy to see a new left 4 dead. I just hope that this time around they go with 6 levels instead of 4.
blasphemous
I dont play valve games b/c I am not a pc gamer. However I liken this to buying to a xbox 360. You know that it is not next-gen when you buy it, but believe M$ when they say "dont worry, we will make it next-gen" so you wait and guess what? A little time goes by and all you have is last-gen box and empty promises.

Left 4 Dead 2 SOON! Aaaah? Anyone?
I'm not necissarilly saying that there shouldn't be a L4D2, but why so soon? Not even a year and its a sequal.
Well, thats not always a bad thing, if you look at Valves other Multiplayer-based game (Team Fortress 2) you'll see they've updated it alot!
Why not L4D? Instead they just make a new game, that LOOKS like DLC.
Unless the game is waaaaaay better then the first one, it should be DLC.

I don't really see what the big deal is. This is a full game just as the first one was a full game. What would you rather do pay $20 for a new campaign or 2, which is about what it would be, or $60 for a full new game. Also read about some of the new things that Value's doing with the AI director and you'll see that this isn't just a quick cash in or something that could be done in a dlc or patch.

I think the game is going to be way better then the first one but its the characters in the game that worry me. The characters in the first one just fit to gether for me. I dont now maby its me but i think a war vet a biker a college student and I think a store clerk make me feel that a bunch of people banded to gether to stay alive but also they went well with each other. But I now its about the world is ending and random peopel are going to be put to gether but at least if your going to make a sequel make the characters interesting. Thats the only problme I have with the game, it looks great and i cant wait until it comes out.

I loved L4D and will gladly shell sixty for the next one. After L4d2 comes out, i will still play L4D. Different games. Bitching at Valve will get you nothing. They are the only company that always puts out a great game. NO other company can claim that. Those of us who love Valve and understand that people have to make money to keep putting out games, will pay for it. Those of you who don't think that you are good enough to put your hard earned money on the counter at gamestop or best buy are idiots. Freedom isn't free, and neither is sweet zombie killin action. Get in line, buy the game, and get over yourself. Do i think L4D needs some more work, yes. Thats why they made a second one. Are you going to bitch that Assassin's creed 2 should be DLC? Or Bioshock 2? NO! cause you are a bunch of whinny little fanboys. Grow up. You want your DLC? Go as Activison for it

Here's the problem... when you build up a reputation of doing good, people are quicker to turn on you than someone who set the part pretty low time after time.
If anything it teaches companies to aim low and keep the bar low... slowly raising it to show progression. I mean it works for the iPhone... released with blatant flaws and blocked apps that fixed them.
They paced themselves... and it worked
Is that *really* a good lesson for companies to learn?

I think L4D was well worth the money it has what 4 campaign modes that are like 1hr each which isn't a lot i agree but how many times have you played it. When online it becomes a different game(being infected rules, trying to kill humans is awesome) I for one have played it over 50 times since i bought it so for me it was worth the money. L4D 2 looks like even more fun and a even greater challenge i mean a witch that walks around like a common infected sounds sweet, there are going to be melee weapons, new special infected, a new mode, and its during the day, and a whole bunch of other stuff they haven't announced. It looks like its way to much to be DLC so leave valve alone. They are one of the best developers out their.(so stop crying)
Shodog
Sessler, you are on the money. L4D was great. We all want more content. Yes I will have to spend $60+ for it, but I believe it is worth my money, given the time I spent playing the first game. Keep up the Soapboxing.

valve giving left4dead 2 free? yeah right. has there ever been a game publisher who bent over? nope. valve like any other game company takes an ip and after seeing the results decided to make some changes even though it may seem little when you look at it. the only difference is new characters. new dead rising like tools, new settings with daylight. and the game director who takes into account weather and that's about it.all the effort for the boycott should be put into asking valve when the next half life or portal will come.
Hydrafiend
Sessler sets up a straw man here, by trying to characterize the concerns of the boycott inaccurately. Come on a sequel only a year after the first game? I for one am tired of all of the expansion pack "sequels" out there. While L4D is a great game, it was certainly lacking in the amount of content that it provided. I think L4D 2 looks good, but is also a cash in.
gino432
I do not see the controversy between such little dlc released for a game before the sequel is released. COD4 had only one dlc, that you had to pay for, you have to wait around 2-3 years for a new sequel and yet know one complains to such a great degree as left 4 dead 2. Sure dlc was promised but valve has said they would support it even after the release. Going on Valve's record I'm choosing to believe them. IF you really don't want to spend the full 60 dollars, wait for dlc for the original and hope that it keeps you satisfied until the new one drops in price in a couple of years.

I don't know if you have bothered to become a member of the group L4D2 Boycott, but you would be at least slightly impressed with the intelligence of the boys or girls who head the effort. They aren't prepubescent middle-schoolers; they actually have a good reason for the boycott.
Yes, they are still spoiled when compared to other "support" from developers, but the main complaint is that Valve promised DLC, delivered on some, but not close to all. Then they decide to put a lot of new content into a new game. It has little to do with the release of another game so close to the original; rather, that is a preconceived notion. The actual aim of the group is to be given the promised content that was never realized.
If in doubt, read the declarations on the Group's homepage. It really is well done.

oh p.s to my earlier post RE5 dlc???? if you can call it that really ripped consumers off where were all of the crazed fanboys then? most likey playing RE5 thinking it was awesome.. just play games for that sake playing a game
ghetto2u
okay to all the the little boys crying about that lfd2 was dlc for lfd...think about it for a second what part would have been dlc the axe, the bat, chainsaw, or the fact that it is in louisana. when they mention that it was for dlc initally they meant it as just that, it started as dlc but made more sense to start a new project with it. this happens all the time in video games DEAL WITH IT!!!
JoeHood
Adam was right on the money on this one. What's wrong with paying for a game, if it is just as good if not better.I don't hear people complaining about other sequels when they are released.Left 4 dead is an awesome game and original, which is a fresh of breath air now a days, and I'm sure the next one will be just as awesome and original.
EKG
I completely agree with Adam here. Valve is the LAST Developer who would EVER milk a franchise and rip off their fans. Valve always gave us awesome sales like Orange Box! There's a 6 year gap between Half Life and the sequel! Valve gave us an amazing game here with L4D! Valve says "Gee, why don't we give our fans a fully fleshed out sequel right away" and the fans complain?! Are u guys CHEAP?!?! I don't hear people bitching about a new Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and Madden every year. And don't give me that retarded and pathetic lie of an excuse "Its because Valve didn't give us more updates! Waah!!" U know damn well u didn't buy the game because Valve was going to give u more levels. U bought it to shoot zombies, and thats EXACTLY what u got. Now, ur going to get even more Zombies to shoot in a full new sequel. So, please, all you bitches out there that Jump down Valves throat, Shut The Hell Up. Valve has done so much for us as Gamers and u should be thanking them!

Its hard to feel betrayed by Final Fantasy going to Xbag because the first 6 were on Nintendo. If anyone has the right to feel betrayed it's them first.
That being said, i don't think ive ever played a "Valve" game.
If they ever learn how to develop for Playstation maybe I'll try one. (psyche)
