By now, most of you have heard about the Left 4 Dead 2 internet petition claiming that the sequel should be released free to owners of the first game, fulfilling Valve's promise to support Left 4 Dead with free DLC. Well I'm sure you've guessed it by now, but Adam has something to say on this subject. I really enjoyed L4D. However, I felt that the there wasn't enough content to make it a full priced game. After I learned of the sequel I felt a little robbed... If they are able to pump out a second L4D in a year that means they had to start as soon as L4D1 was finished. For comparison, EA actually starts a new need for speed a full year before it's elder game releases. For example, NFS Undercover was in production for a full year before NFS Pro street came out. In conclusion, Valve must have put out L4D knowing they were releasing a sequel that they could make DLC if the game didn't sell well. L4D1 was an unfinished game released to make a due date. Valve could have pushed the date back and released it with all of the content of L4D and it's sequel, but a stand alone game would make them more money.....I am still going to buy it tho. It looks sweeeet!!!

I guess the moral of this story is that basic business accumen is far beyond the grasp of most socially awkward teenagers who spend most of their time playing video games. As a mature (40 year old +) gamer, I applaud Valve for their excellent products and obvious devotion to the fans.

1) all people bitching about L4D2 STFU as you value fans never bitched that Half Life 2 Episode 1 and 2 should be DLC when there are shorter combained them the first L4D and L4D2 will be a lot better with new programming which if there put as DLC would blow the game up or have a blue screen of death
2) for you Adam Sessler i agree and i can see this getting a lot like the Killzone 2 complaints about it getting the 100% score when it should haven't gotten 200000000% more from the fanboys

Ofcourse they don't owe us anything!!! It's not like WE bought the game! You know it's not like WE didn't spend our money to buy a highly overrated and really boring game! Because WE'RE not the fans, the don't need US to spend money for THEM to make money, that's a ridiculous notion. Why in the world would developers want to keep the people who buy and play their games happy??? And valve needs to stop being lazy and come up with a new game engine already!

There are some games that are great that doesn't mean that they have to be very long Left 4 Dead was short and sweet it was really fun to play with friends also I guarantee the second one will be great to and I don't believe that they should stick with PC like Adam said this is a buisness sure developers are looking for the most favorable thing for the gamer in the actual game but not in the sales of the game if that makes sense And stop whining about L4D 2 it'll be great and you'll buy it then cry later Believe me Valve looks at the general population not just you so in concluding they don't owe you anything

I totally agree with Adam. L4D was a awesome game. I for one am excited about the changes and addition of melee weapons to the mix. This kind of whinning and self centeredness is just rediculous. If this many people are upset about its release then to those people dont buy it. If you upset with the release just play the original. It is not like Valve will be shutting down L4D servers for the sequel.

l4d2 looks alright but srsly, i thought that the first l4d was the biggest waste of money ever. i thought that nazi zombies, a simple bonus feature for completing the cod waw's campaign was better than an entire game devoted to killing zombies. I think treyarch should make a zombie game and it would probably be the best game ever!!!

really! Valve does not owe us anything adam? I think they owe everyone who bought L4D $30 bucks back for only selling us half a game. The demo was sick, but it wasn't a demo, but an eighth of the game. The DLC was fun for about a day or two, but nothing kept me to go back to it. It was a good game, but not as great or amazing as people review. If valve doesn't listen that's BS. I don't know how they would respond to everyone's demands, but more DLC would be better than a new game. I'm not being too nieve,but anyone looking forward to L4D 2 don't go on the looks and demo, but make sure there's a disc included in the packaging cus valve rips you off on L4D!

I bought an unfinished game for 50$ half a year ago. It wasn't a "really really really really REALLY" good game, which is why many of us are letdown by L4D2. First they release a Beta as a full game, then they announce a sequel after 7 months, after one boring DLC update for the original. Hey, I'm not complaining. I'm also not buying, though. Then again, I wouldn't buy anything from Valve or Steam regardless after the European price "feature" they introduced last December. 1€ ≠ $1

I'm a little mixed on this one. Left 4 Dead 2 looks great but it needs to have much more content than the first one to be worth another $60 a year later.
