I hope you read this atam.
Left 4 Dead was released with 4 levels with 4 to 5 parts in each level ( Not much content ) then too add that only 2 levels were only allowed to be played multiplayer and it took valve quite a while for valve to announce 2 new levels and survivor more were gonna be released but the 2 new levels were the ones that should came with the game in the first place ( What a downer )The day the game was released you coudl not play because there was hardly any servers to play on because there server code was not tested or was tested so servers were shutting down randomly and a week later i got to play the game. Vale also announces the use of the source engine to make custom levels and that was a long time ago and then next thing we hear from vale. They are releasing a new game! So what do i think..

people are skeptical because of companies like EA that screw people regularly. Valve isn't like that, so people need to get over themselves.

I'm one of the people who is part of the Boycott group... my reasons aren't a "sense of entitlement", rather that I did do my research before buying the game and I did hear/see/read all the talk from Valve about how there was only 4 campaigns and 6 weapons, but that more campaings, weapons, survivors, and boss infected would be added. There are video clips and interviews linked from the Steam Community Group if you'd like to see for yourself.
I'm not against a sequel... I am however against a sequel at the cost of there not being any of the additions to the original that were originally stated. Again, if you don't believe that Valve made those statements, go take a look at the links posted on the Community Group.

I loved left 4 dead but i just don't see why it couldnt have just been DLC.

You guys can bitch all you want, but I highly doubt it will change anything. If you think Valve is cheating you, well then go ahead and dont buy L4D2. Meanwhile, everyone else who would actually like to enjoy an improved installment of an already outstanding game will buy it and enjoy it. Left 4 Dead has sold millions of copies, and L4D2 will probably sell a lot more. 17,000 people bitching on the internet doesnt even scratch the surface of that. Do you honestly think Valve will care?

People are just mad that valve is releasing a game before 8 years.
"No valve! You have to release a game in the next 8 years! No sooner!"

Agree with you 100% Adam. It's Business! BUSINESS. No business, no profit, no games. Fifa anyone?

your totally right, the first Left 4 dead was awesome, and i feel the same way about Valve giving out free Left 4 dead 2 games for Xbox 360's but i just wonder how they are going to find out who owns a copy of the first left 4 dead so they can send a copy of the second Left 4 dead...

Word Adam, word.

I just think people want more of the L4D experience for free with the DLC and not have to spend another 70 dollars on another game.

I have a serious question to ask. Do you have to pay for these games, Adam Sessler, or do you get some free copies because you are a reviewer? I am honestly asking. Because if you get to play these games for free, then it's very true that you won't get the problem here. You're whining that gamers feel they should get special privileges when you're the one who is actually getting these special privileges... A bit hypocritical, isn't it? And for those saying that L4D2 is going to be a compeletely different game worth the money, stop pretending like you know everything there is to know already. You're just as bad as the whiners pretending that they know it will already be bad. I'll hold my judgments for when it comes out on how good it is, but I'm not shelling out another 60 dollars for a sequel of a game I already overpaid for once.

there has to be a special eddtion for left for dead 2!
GamerNx
I wonder if they called it left 4 dead episode 1 or 2 what would people then be saying. Point is, if these people are willing to pay 30 dollars for a 1 hour add on to half life 2, then why arent they willing to pay for a full blow, fully improved sequel to an already great game?

Rargh, tried to get this full post through three times now. Screw it. Short version:
They are mad at Valve because of the treatment TF2 has recieved. Except that people think what has gone on with TF2 is a lot more than it actually is. Grand total they added 3 new maps, 4 arena maps, and 18 items. Items being by far the easiest to do, as they're just one model with moving parts. L4D2 is already getting 25 new maps, 3 new SI classes, all new characters with voice work, and countless other AID tweaks. Let alone the minor stuff like more balanced survivor weapons and new items for them to use.

I love the comments from people saying "there was only 4 hours of content in L4D!" I guess you guys should have done some research before you picked it up. It was a game built around multiplayer that allowed you to play single player as practice for online co-op or versus, much like one of my other favorite games, Tribes. Anyone who bought L4D thinking it was going to be a great single player game was a fool. Good luck getting anywhere on expert with less than 4 thinking humans. Versus mode is also the new crack. So to all those bitching, I agree with Adam (for once) you need to shut up and learn from your dumb mistake. If you’re into single player games, dont buy L4D2. I am stoked for a sequel, as I easily spent 50-60 plus hours with L4D and am still playing,. Don't blame a company for giving real fans of the game more zombie slaying goodness. You want more bang for your buck? I’ll see you in versus mode! I’ll be the one clawing at your face.

The game is over half way completed. Do you think Valve is just going to stop production, because people are a little angry at them? That would be nothing more then a waste of the time, money, and resources it took to get them to this point. Or are free DLCs going to generate the revenue to make up for that?

People resorting to calling us "nerds" and "fanboys" crack me up. Who's the bigger nerd/fanboy, the unsatisfied customer that stands up to make his/her opinion heard or the message board regulars that drool over anything their favorite company makes and defends them blindly in anything they do?
Some of you say, "Just don't buy it if you don't like it!111" To you I say, the point of this boycott whizzed right past your heads. Boycotts mean "I will not support this". In this case, that means we are not buying L4D2.
And you can't stop us from voicing our opinion on it. The last thing the world needs are people that don't stand up for their viewpoints or let people know what they really think about something. Look up "The Third Reich" for consequences of silence.

LOL it's just business Nerds if you don't feel you should buy it then don't case closed once agian!!!

This all seems pretty similar to the sports games to me. A new sports game comes out every year, yet they still sell like crazy, so why do the rules suddenly change in people's minds for this game. The easiest thing to do was what I did, I quit buying them. Also, it was clear from the start that this game wasn't going to be like CoD or whatever else, so I don't really know what people were expecting.
