Well I'm sure you've guessed it by now, but Adam has something to say on this subject. Check out the Feed story about the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott petition, and then press play to find out how The Sess feels.

    Compare the post-launch support of L4D with TF2. Reconcile that with Valve's promises: http://www.videogamer.com/news /valve_details_post_left_4_dea d_launch_plans.html

They sold me on L4D with TF2. A game I play still today, two years after its launch. What did they do after L4D released? Begin making L4D2. Not the DLC we were promised. http://www.steamfriends.com/ne ws/4168/valve-explains-choice- l4d2 Do your job, find the facts. I WILL question your integrity, here, because you did NOT address the most VALID points of the most public aggregate of the boycotters, the actual L4D boycott group: http://steamcommunity.com/grou ps/L4D2boycott. Have a dialogue with them, THEN I will respect your opinion.

I don't know how you can say with a straight face that this is a distinct game from the first one Adam. I played the thing at E3 and it's basically L4D during the day and with melee weapons.

I think a lot of people are upset about L4D2 because they are worried that the sequels release will make the first one obsolete after only a year. Many people have said releasing this as DLC would prevent that, but it won't. If they release DLC, then everyone will be playing the new maps, thereby making the game obsolete for anyone who had not purchased the DLC. Releasing the content as a full fledged sequel prevents confusion and makes the new content an optional purchase. I also believe that L4D1 will not become obsolete because there are people who love the original maps and will continue to play the first title.

6 months it has been out. Not much has come continued support has come out. Sure there was survival mode and the 15 mini maps that came with it. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that those "maps" are just scaled down versions of the same maps that came with the game? Yay for re-usable content. I highly doubt they will be making good on their promise within the next 6 months. Cause I haven't heard of a game that isn't an mmo that gets content for it once the sequel comes out. Next time a developer says buy my beta and we will finish the game after release, I will not purchase it. Man I should have learned my lesson with the whole hellgate london thing.... Please read the mission statement of the l4d2 boycott.

I think Adam doesn't have all the facts on this one. This entitlement he speaks of can be found from several video interviews from chet before left 4 dead was released. He says that l4d owners can expected continued support by way of new campaigns, weapons and monsters. Here is a youtube video showing the Hippocratic nature valve seems to be taking.

I can't speak for every pc player who bought the game, but part of the reason I got it at launch was because they promised more content. You have to admit 8 weapons, 4 campaigns that take 3 hours at best to plow through and 5 special bad guys (which slightly more than terminator salvation from what I hear) is not much content at all. Now for what little content there was, it was a fun game that I logged a good number of hours playing.

I, was reluctant to join the "boycott" group on Steam. It was tough, in closet, I'll likely buy the game anyway. I personally think that, though Sessler holds a very good point on this, I think it should either be given with a slight discount to current owners or as paid for DLC. Still, whatever, VALVe has yet to let me down, and, their solution will likely be better than I could've imagined.

Adam is right, this whole thing is stupid. Why should the developers listen to fans, excuse me, "fans", who complain about a sequel that will be a better version of the previous game by saying that it should be free. These guys bust their ass for you guys to play these awesome titles, and your gonna return it by petitioning their new game, some fans you guys are. The other factor is just general business, and for Valve a new, full Left 4 Dead title is the smarter choice over DLC.

For all those using the argument "its a business." We understand that its a business, that's why we will petition and boycott the release so soon, to show Valve that its a bad business decision because it will not be received well. Gamers have to worry about money too, and how to get the most out of the games they can afford to buy.

What I think people need to understand is that this is a business. The creators of games are not your friends and they aren't here to hold your hand and give you their hard work for free. The only reason developers can even keep creating games is because they charge for them. If you are so upset about this you should create your own game and give it to everyone for free and see how that works for you.

@Fritzlv just like no body plays COD4 now and Halo 2 after Halo3 three came out. And about the whole cheaper thing that is just not economically logical. Valve makes good games and I spent many hours online playing the first L4D. I agree that L4D one could use more DLC but its a buissness. If the game is godd I will buy it and so will many others so creating an new, qualty games is not only fair but recommended

Now if you could just purchase one part of the level maybe you can charge your $3.33 but you can't purchase one part of a level.

Valve said they were not finished with L4D and new DLC will be released and fixes, custom levels on PC will work with both games. Some good reading.

Think of it this way: most map packs that come out have about 3 maps and usually costs you $10. This means that each map costs about $3.33. If L4D2 has 4 campaigns with 5 maps each, thats 20 new maps. 20x $3.33 is $66.60. So really, valve is saving you almost $7 on new content. In Adams words: Quit your bitchin!

    @ ShaStOne
LFD2 is a sequel, no-one is going to play LFD when there is a game which has improved on the previous in everyway. So anyone wanting to get their monies worth out of LFD will be outa luck with no-one to play with.

In my opinion, LFD2 should be cheaper for anyone who already owns LFD, (though this is really only possible if bought through Steam).
