By now, most of you have heard about the Left 4 Dead 2 internet petition claiming that the sequel should be released free to owners of the first game, fulfilling Valve's promise to support Left 4 Dead with free DLC. Well I'm sure you've guessed it by now, but Adam has something to say on this subject. Check out the Feed story about the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott petition, and then press play to find out how The Sess feels.

    I like how Adam for got the mention the fact that L4D1 had such a low amount of content for a 50-60 dollar game. To most it would seem to make sence that free or cheap DLCs or updates would come down the line. But now what pretty much was future DLC or L4D is it's own standalone game which is 50-60 bucks. So to you Adam, why is it so wrong for so many of us to feel cheated over a 50 dollar DLC package?

    In this case I disagree with Adam. When L4D launched it launched with less content than contemporary shooters like R2 and WAW. To rectify this difference Valve promised to release free DLC, but none of it has materialized. Newell made mention of further updates, but he hasn't been specific about what they are or why anyone should care since he obviously expects people to buy L4D2. Furthermore, Valve reps have even said flat out that the content in L4D2 was originally going to be the DLC for L4D, so Valve is essentially charging the full price of a game for what was promised as free content. While it's certainly Valve's right to make a profit however they can, it's every gamer's right to protest and withhold their purchase of a product that they feel is exploitative or that may encourage similarly unfavorable behavior in the future.

    That's how I see it anyways.

    Yes, you are right. I am, me personally, single handedly, am responsible for your BITCHING. I'm not a fan of Valve's games for the most part (Half-Life is a bit overrated at this point) but I like the original, liked what I saw at E3, and am willing to spend my hard earned dollars for more entertainment that my friends and I experienced with the first Left 4 Dead. I will walk into Gamestop, hand them my credit card, and pay for Left 4 Dead2 without BITCHING.

    They came close to screwing the PS3 ONLY because they left in the hands of EA. What did you expect?

    I totally agree with Sessler on this one. The sad fact is that if this was any company, no one would have batted an eye, but because it is Valve, who has bent over backwards so many times for their fans, people are like "What do you mean I have to pay for it?"

    Calm down, children. Valve is still an awesome company, this game will be great, and you know you will buy it anyways (can't be left behind!). So, please, quit your bitching!

    You're right. I am, me, single handedly, responsible for people, like you, who are BITCHING. Thing is, I enjoyed the first game. My friends and I got a great deal of playing time out of the original. E3 comes along and I see the trailer to the second. I watch the videos, read the articles, and decided that I, as a consumer, feel this is a decent enough value for my hard earned cash. That my choice as an adult, not as Valve's bitch. A real bitch would be to think that a company has to answer to your opinion. A bitch would assume that I enjoy one game of Vavle's am therefore a fan of all things Valve ( I honestly believe Half-Life is completely overrated and wouldn't bitch once if it never came out). I'm buying the game because I enjoyed what I played so far and can't wait to kill the undead in the Big Easy... and you won't hear me BITCHING about how long I have to wait for the release... bitch.

    I haven't even gotten around to playing Left 4 Dead, so I may just skip it and get Left 4 Dead 2 instead.

    I just don't care. I bought the first one was unimpressed with the removal of the story, and I won't be buying the second. No whining, just no spending either. Here's the real question, where is HL2 ep3?

    Can someone show me where Valve explicitly promised all this stuff? I'm not being sarcastic. I just hear this all the time but don't remember it.

    Adam, your counter-indignation was pretty funny and down to earth. I heartily agree. Personally, I think L4D--as it is now--was worth the $50 I paid for it, and I can't wait for more. (If you're that pissed off, wait for one of the sweet weekend deals on Steam and get it for like $20.)

    Hey, Sessler. What about idiot games 'journalists' who reassured fans that despite the scant amount of content in L4D that we could count on Valve thanks to their history with TF2?

    Or did you forget about that in your rush to give Valve their free pass again?

    Hit the nail on the head Sess. This is a business, and the amazing success Left 4 Dead had left us..well begging for more.
    I have YET to be disappointed by a Valve game, and this will be another game I will be waiting to get.

    maybe you shouldn't buy anything ever again. well, except for a book..those are rather static. cars change every year, cell phones, computers, EVERYTHING. grow up some more.
    @popofish
    if they would have charged for DLC you would have screamed. get over it. buy the new game, it will be awesome.

    @zylo
    So it was "partly" dlc? Which part? Maybe instead of gimping the DLC or new entry they just combined to make it great..thereby thinking of the consumer. Valve made tons of money just on PC and their profit margin is outstanding with STEAM. No need to have the PS3 to put food on the table. If development on the machine costs them too much then it isn't a good idea. I'm sure you make similar decisions every month. If you take care of yourself anyway.

    You're the reason why people are bitching about this game. You're blind love of everything Valve is amazing, honestly. It's not that they're taking too long with a new Half-Life, it's that it's not a new Half-Life. For that game to take as long as it is, it should just be Half-Life 3. Left 4 Dead was half of a game. It was absolutely the smallest amount of content I've ever seen for $60 and, the fact that they're pumping out a sequel already just shows that they could have included more material in the first game but, in classic Valve form they're cheating you out of every possible dollar.

    The point was totally missed here, and as usual thats to be expected from G4.

    This was supposed to be partly DLC for LFT1, now they decided to release it as a standalone game after not even finishing anything that was promised for the original game.

    Granted they promised to continue support for the original LFT but I dont see that coming, the online modes were flawed and never fixed and they have already moved onto another game.

    Valve needs to get their priorities straight before their fanbase plummets, as it is they only have two platforms supporting them since their haphazard programmers cant handle PS3 (Not that they handle 360 all that well either), yet again more fanboys cant see things for what they are and only care about instant self gratification.

    So they are wrong for taking too long to release a new Half-Life game and wrong for releasing a new Left 4 Dead too soon? How does Valve win?
    I personally love the first game and can't wait for the second. If you don't want to buy it, don't. Quit crying. It's not like we are talking about EA or Activision here. Then I could see your argument for minor upgrade to each game, but Left 4 Dead 2 looks like a major leap forward as far as content is concern.
