By now, most of you have heard about the Left 4 Dead 2 internet petition claiming that the sequel should be released free to owners of the first game, fulfilling Valve's promise to support Left 4 Dead with free DLC. Well I'm sure you've guessed it by now, but Adam has something to say on this subject. Check out the Feed story about the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott petition, and then press play to find out how The Sess feels.

Really? People are bitching about L4D2? Really? I have never agreed so thoroughly with any celebrity before this moment, Adam Sessler.

Screw paying the $60 price tag for incendiary ammo and daytime maps, I can finally play those on L4D1 servers with mods! O.o

your a blithering idiot for calling him a blithering idiot. he is speaking the truth, i just started playing lfd 1 and i loved it and when i heard they were comming out with a second one i was enthralled. The innovations that they made on it were completely that 1. stop giving crap about if its dlc or not. also, your idiotic petitions and boycott will go unnoticed because they are still going to releace the game no matter what you say.

The time between Diablo 2 and 3 has been about 5 years, that is enough time to come up with significantly new and different content. 1 year is not. That, and the fact that besides some multiplayer options that should have been in the original, we haven't gotten that DLC that Valve DID promise. I'm not complaining, but shouldn't they hold up to their promises? If I want a new level, character, or weapon, it's all user created mods for me, which makes me think; if some guy that bought the game and is bored at home make new content for this game, shouldn't Valve be able to do it faster, and better? Instead they separate their online community into those who have L4D 1, and 2. Very unlike Valve to separate online communities!!

    Exactly, Adam.

And I know for a fact that a lot of those people in the "L4D2 Boycott" are still gonna go out and get the game.

lol i never thought and will never think that this is about money. And please dont rant that this is just business (nothing personal). Also the whole new level of gameplay, as far as i have seen on some videos, doesnt look too much different,(but thats the point of L4D, killing zombies n having fun). There are some cool new stuffs though, wandering witches, melee weapons (frying pan lol), incendiary ammo, new crescendo events, new special infected. As far as engine is concerned, I think its still the same (a few advancements though). In my opinion, when you put a "2" at the end of your title, it should be a whole new level of experience, that I cant tell unless i play L4D2 :). So I am goin to get it as soon as it comes out anyway. In my opinion L4D2 Boycott is a bit strong choice. It could have been L4D2 Suggestions ( sounds a bit lame).

Meh... I played Left4Dead for about a month straight, then got bored with it. I've a feeling that's already happened to a lot of people. A sequel is their way of luring everyone back. As long as they update BOTH games I don't see any problem with this. If they abandon Left4Dead 1 so soon after release, I say the bitching is justified. And is it just me, or does Adam always seems to side with the game compaines and against the gamers in his rants? If I bought an iphone, with the promise of apps and all sorts of added functionality, then it never happened and was abandoned for a new version, G4 would be all over that siding with the consumer. If it happens with a game, meh, gamers can go take a long jump off a short pier.

I think the main issue is the online community.

The game is only good for online. And this will split the community because some will stick with just L4D(whether it be because of money, believing L4D2 to be recycled, ect)and others will switch to L4D2(achievements, wanting to move up, ect).

Also paying $60 to get new maps seems...unfair.

What you fail to realize Adam is that the fans particularly the hardcore fans generate buzz and provide excellent word of mouth for Valve's products. So I think Valve does owe something to it's fan base. Although personally I don't really care if there is a sequel to L4D. The first game was basically a half life mod with a few maps - no story and no substance and although it was fun at the beginning it quickly became a boring experience. I'm not going to buy L4D2.

I'm a relay, please respond: “Mr.Sessler, It has come to our attention that you recently spoke about our group on your segment entitled “Sessler's Soapbox”. You brought up some interesting points about those in opposition to Left 4 Dead 2, and we welcome your comments. While there were some over generalizations made during the show, that is understandable. You must be reporting on a lot of different groups that are upset about this release, and have to address a wide community of people. We most definitely do not envy your job. The Left 4 Dead 2 boycott staff would like to invite you to sit down with some of our community members, many of whom are fans of you and your work, so that we may discuss any questions or misconceptions you may have about us. Feel free to contact us at the boycott if you are interested and would like to set something up. Our email is l4d2boycott@gmail.com Thank you for your time. Sincerely, The L4D2 Boycott Staff http://steamcommunity.com/grou ps/L4D2Boycott"

Well I think I can kinda understand why people would be upset.

L4D is arguably just for multiplayer. If this was just a single player game then I would be fine with a sequal. But multiplayer games are different. They're fun for years after the original comes out(see Halo 3, Gears of War, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, ect)because each time you play you pretty much have a different experience. Where as single player games get repetitive and people would love sequals to come out.

Valve did things wrong here. They take years to work on most their single player game sequals but they release one of their big multiplayer games(one that had constant delays btw)a year after release?

I understand trying to keep gameplay fresh but atleast wait till people get tired of the original. If they were gonna release any sequal this year it should've just been Portal 2...

As customers we support the company and pay their wages, when they receive profit. They sure owe us something.

Especially when it was promised. Gabe Newell, and the rest of VALVe stated that the game would release DLC to justify the price of $60 for L4D's lack of content. The DLC was said to include "new maps, new campaigns, new characters, new unlockables, new weapons" (That's quoting Doug Lombardi)

Half a year after, we have only received patches and one new map. Then they announce L4D 2.

If you read any of the original reviews you can see most complained it was too short, but rated it high because they assumed there would be updates.

Valve made a promise! Sure, they don't HAVE to make DLC, but they promised they would.

Last time I checked Valve or any other game company are not under any contractual agreement with any one that buys there game. They don't have to make a dlc for the game and they don't even have to fix any bugs. You can be mad as hell and feel ripped off all you want. That still does not change the fact that Valve owes you nothing.

I can’t help but feel that the major schism here is between console gamers and pc gamers. Lets face it console gamers are used to new skins and maps being passed off as a new game, they actually revel in it after all its a new shiny thing to add to their collection.
PC gamers on the other hand are a little more used to upgradeable games and tend to see new skins and maps as.. well, new skins and maps. We’re used to games (especially valve games) being an investment. Couple that with the advertised promise of additional content and we expect additional content.
when by valve own admission say the turn around for a new game is 3 years, a 'new game' released after only one year is either an update or development started long before the original was finished. so yeah valve are trying to sell you something alright, it just that I’m not buyin' it.

I asked myself "why is the new game bad" and I tried for days to see why people are upset. I even checked up on the boycotts reasons but all of their reasons are half baked and based on opinion (don't like new characters, doesn't have enough new content, etc.). The only reason I can see is that valve didn't keep their promise of releasing new dlc for the original game (even though they have been), but even that statement is weak also. I swear, people always complain to big companies saying that they treat us like we're not that important and now valve, one of the few companies out there who actually listen to the community are getting complained to for doing something different for once, which was actually something they probably did too please the community in the first place. In the end, the boycott will not work since they only work for something you would pay periodically. Regardless, im still getting the game.

Well I normally would agree with you adam. But I agree with some of those who felt ripped off for left4dead. I bought this at full-price and got 4 one hour games. Now before I bought this I read the interviews. In which they said there would be new weapons and new levels released over the next year. So I thought great just like every other game by valve I will get great dlc. Unfortunately all we got was a new lighthouse level which is stationary mind you and we got what is a challenge mode to play till you die. Now they are fun but not what they said....do developers change their minds sure, but Valve is one of those who really comes through for their gamers. Now if they still provide dlc for left4dead 1 then I will gladly buy the 2nd one a year later. But with the greed I have seen with game companies and all the crap they release I hope valve doesn't join the masses.
