Attention iPhone and iPod Touch users: iPhone OS 3.0 is now available and ready for an update-filled adventure. Just connect your device, load up iTunes (version 8.2 required), and check for updates. It should download, unpack, and install.
Once you get it up and running, be sure to let us know what you think of the new OS and your favorite new feature. I'm excited for Apple's Universal Push system, which will increase connectivity for supported apps by notifying you of any pending messages or updates.

I think it is horrible that the IPod touch users are being charged money for the update. What is the reason for this. It doesn't cost to update ITunes or the apps, but now that all the apps use the OS 3.0 update, its hard to even want to keep my IPod touch.

The new firmware has problems bigtime, dont upgrade if you have jailbroken. it deleted my settings and when i say my settings i mean the settings for the phone..anyone with help please respond

I downloaded the update. My phone slowed down so I reset it then it bricked. Never happened before today. I had to speak with an apple rep for about 45 minutes then she told me to restore it as new. Thats what I am doing now, three months since being announced. One half day fooling with this update crap, one ticked off and tired customer. AT&T suckered me into this two year contract with the crappy iphone 3g

I've been running it for a few days, downloaded the WWDC build (same build as today's release). I do have to say as much as I love my iPhone/Apple in general, the update is really underwhelming. Copy and paste is great, but the rest is pretty flat.
