Raphael Barent, Game Play Programmer from Ubisoft, previewed the intricate story and details behind Splinter Cell: Conviction last week at E3 2009.

The part that'll set off gamer conspiracy theorists --no, it's not anything regarding console exclusivity-- comes somewhere around the middle of the video when Barent says something seemingly innocuous. For those of you who played Splinter Cell: Double Agent, you'll remember that Sam Fisher's daughter died in a car accident. Or did she?

Before you talk amongst yourselves and start picking apart the meaning of his words, watch the interview!

    @RROD you have no credibility left after your failed doomsday three times in a row. games on the PS3 might be considered big but are nothing more than flops, those sold called "facts" are nothing but presumptions from you until the games are in the consoles. heavenly sword, haze, killzone, infamous, LBP are all possible on the 360, but we dont want your garbage, only you guys want are salty seconds from bioshock and lost planet.

    ^^^taken from ign's review of ghostbusters on the ps3. you know, the game that used ps3 as it's lead console for development? the one that fanboys have been bragging about? yep, that one.

    For all the fanboys out there who want to beat their chests about which system got it right, there are some differences between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of this game. The PS3 features an eight-minute, 4 GB install that apparently doesn't do much seeing as how it takes both games about 30 seconds to load after a death or load a mission from the main screen. Although the PS3 has exclusive videos about refurbishing Ecto-1 and the Blu-ray trailer, the graphics seem to be a touch dumbed down on Sony's system. When you proton stream burns a wall on the 360, there's a black gouge in the wall that features smoldering embers and bits of fire. On the PS3, you get the fire and black gouge, but the little embers embedded in the cut don't make it. Similarly, when you attack Stay Puft on Microsoft's console, you're making dramatic changes to his puffy exterior. On the PS3, these changes aren't as severe -- it's almost like a bruise rather than a fiery cut.

    awwww, they want our games because they are tired of being served certified flops :*(

    poor little fat princesses, don't venture too far from your littlebigsandboxes and see the real world. the one where the ps3 is only successful in becoming a financial and critical failure.

    :*(

    Greetings

    They can in that compression tech is always inproving, however, you right for the most part. The easy answer is additional discs if required.

    I understand forza will have one disc for campaign and another for multiplayer.

    @lucidity

    dev kits dont account for disc space, thats the issue here, not graphical capability

    @ RRODisBack

    The pure talent and skill of the developers is undeniably a huge factor in the quality of the end product.

    The console makers sell a "software development kit" to game developers. This kit includes, an ever expanding (ie ambient occlusion), group of tools for creating various applications. MS, perhaps not surprisingly considering their background, is known to have an extremely user friendly kit. They are also known to offer tremendous support.

    Unless console makers stop updating their kits, developers aren't going to max out any time soon.
