Evolution Studios has two seriously hefty expansion packs waiting in the wings for its high-octane racer MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. The two packs, “Expansion: Speed” and “Expansion: Adrenaline” feature a total of six new tracks, eight track variants, eight new vehicles, six new characters, a 48-event Mini-Festival (“Speed Weekend”) and much more. I’m no math-doin’ guy, but that’s a lot of new content.

Over at PlayStation.Blog, Evolution Studios’ Game Director Jed Ashforth has posted a detailed look at the new maps that will be available in the upcoming expansion packs. The new maps span the environmental spectrum, from beaches to swamps to volcanic wastelands, and they all look gorgeous and aptly treacherous. In addition to the new maps, the developers have also included eight new versions of the most popular online tracks, re-designed under the “Volcanic” theme, basically turning the tracks into lava-ridden gauntlets of hellfire-y mayhem. Um, yes please.

Still no word on pricing or a release date for either expansion pack yet, but hopefully that info will be coming shortly.
