EA Says

There’s little doubt that DICE’s first-person action platformer Mirror’s Edge had all the makings of a killer new IP: great style, compelling design, unique first-person acrobatics, etc. And yet, despite its gorgeous presentation (and thanks to some less than stellar gunplay mechanics and it’s brief length), the game failed to charm its way to significant financial success. Fortunately though, EA has not given up on one of its most original IPs in years, as VideoGamer.com recently learned.

During last week’s E3, senior vice president at EA Games Europe, Patrick Soderlund confirmed that a “small team” at DICE is currently working on Mirror’s Edge 2. Given how much discussion and hype surrounded the first game, it’s hardly surprising that a sequel in is in the works. And while I’m normally against hearing obvious sequel announcements, this is one franchise that I (forgive the pun) have nothing but faith in, and I can’t wait to see what the next game will bring.

On that note, check out the discussion my fellow editors Patrick and Andrew recently had about the possibility of a multiplayer mode showing up in the next Mirror's Edge.
