Rock Band has secured one band away from Guitar Hero: Green Day. The punk band accidentally spilled the beans on their collaboration with Harmonix and MTV Games earlier this week, while the public relations departments scrambled to get the official announcement in order. Today, it's real: Green Day is exclusively coming to Rock Band in the form of downloadable content and unannounced "projects."
First up, a selection of three tracks -- "21 Guns," "Know Your Enemy," "East Jesus Nowhere" -- from their latest album, 21st Century Breakdown, will arrive as downloadable content.
That's not the end of Green Day in Rock Band, though, with all parties involved teasing that "additional songs" and other "projects" will be announced "at a later date."
Between The Beatles: Rock Band, their upcoming live-centric project with Pearl Jam and today's deal with Green Day, are we starting to see Rock Band adopting the same philosophy Activision Blizzard has with producing band releases for Guitar Hero?

Yes Empyu, RB could use more longer tracks. Specifically, 2112 by Rush.

I never though 21 Guns would be very fun on Rock Band. How about Jesus of Suburbia instead? Don't you think rythym games could use more 9 minute tracks? heh heh

As long as these games give you the option to transfer your tunes onto another game like they have done with Rock Band 1, AC/DC, and the track packs, then I'm down for it. Its the one big thing that HMX has over activision.
I'm not interested in Green Day though

East Jesus Nowhere is a badass tune.

ROCK BAND 2 HAS GOT TO PUT MORE METAL AND HEAVY METAL SONGS ON THE MARKETPLACE!!!!!!!!!

Green Day would be good to try new things like an actual three band mood where one of the people sing and having others do back up if wanted (Beatles:RB thank you) and work it a better way and as the songs maybe repeating the same thing it would be nice to try it with a new guitar that has more then one "string" (row of frets) to add a better challenge just new stuff that would work better and open doors for better play of more say Blink 182? etc. etc.

Not a good enough band to get their own game. DLC? Sure, I'll pick up a tune or two and leave it at that.

who cares, their songs are so annoying, they just say the same line over and over again

Yeah I wouldn't blame harmonix, though. They're trying to compete with the evil empire that is activision who will sell anything with a guitar hero label on it. They're still releasing one retail game a year so I don't see how they're selling out yet. Plus they're getting bands with music that people love, not just for how hard they can make the guitar charts. I really hope the industry pressure doesn't turn them into activision clones, sacrificing quality and innovation for stupid gimmicks and advertising dollars. I hope activision burns.

They look as surprised and horrified in this picture as I am.

Please Harmonix, don't start making these things ever two months, I think after green day the only rock band game to come out for a while should be rock band 3.
BONERJAM
Not a fan but I'm glad RB is getting em, GH has sucked since Harmonix left. I really dont think RB is doing the GH thing at least not yet.
@qec
What are you in 8th grade or something? I haven't even heard anyone say "sellout" since jr high school.
ProxyVirus
If you made a breakout hit like Rock Band, after creating so many under appreciated music games in the past, you'd do the same.

What Sellouts!
