In addition to Metal Gear Solid Rising and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Kojima Productions and Konami are also working on Metal Gear Arcade. While Solid Snake's debut onto the arcade scene is currently a Japanese only affair right now, IGN picked up the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly and passed on some new details about the game.
Metal Gear Arcade isn't a primarily single-player adventure, but a tweaked version of Metal Gear Online featuring a mission mode that's playable on your own or with a friend. The competitive multiplayer modes allows for up to 16-players simultaneously and promise more customizability than in Metal Gear Online.
More interesting, however, is Metal Gear Arcade's reliance on 3D tech. Kojima Productions will be attaching 3D glasses to the cabinet. I wonder how long those bad boys last before someone yanks them. Could this be a testing ground for 3D technology coming to a future Metal Gear project on the consoles?

How long are the videos going to be?

When you think about it, turning MGO into an arcade game almost makes more sense for Japan (where online gaming isn't as big as in the West). Plus, I think it's more efficient than the Konami ID, which has pretty much kept me off most of Konami's PS3 products, from Metal Gear to Pro Evo Soccer.

Is this coming to the US?
No. Because American arcades see about as much business as Phat Earl's Corn Dog Shack.
They should bring a standalone Metal Gear Online to the PS3/360 with all the previous expansion packs, and dump Konami's horrendous online code/network service in favor of the much better PSN and XBL.
