The PlayStation 3 version of Prototype has a nasty little bug that may affect some users as they try to install the game. The PS3 may claim it does not have enough free space on the hard drive even if it does, but it can be solved by a goofy workaround.
By changing the amount of free space on your hard drive by at least 700MB, the game will complete its mandatory install and you can begin slicing people open on the streets of NYC. Want a suggestion on how to do this? Delete or download a game demo.
Activision has stated that a patch will be released over PSN shortly. Unfortunately, this workaround is necessary until then if you experience the bug because the installation is mandatory. PS3 owners might recall the same bug with Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.
In other news, I conducted the optional install of Prototype on the Xbox 360 last night and was playing it so much that I forgot to eat dinner. True story.

i played prototype its way better then infamous!!!:D on other thought.i thought the ps3 was sooo suprior that it can handle this game without bugs :)

Of what relevance does that have to this article other than G4 reminding everyone that the 360 doesn't have a mandatory install?
Also, ever think about these two points:
1. There's a "mandatory" install on 360 because who can bare to listen to the DVD drive spinning while playing a game? I never play a game on my 360 direct from disk, its way too loud.
2. PS3 users can install an internal 500GB disk if they wanted, so for many PS3 users, a mandatory install won't even phase them because hard drive space on a PS3 is not as much an issue as it is on 360 with those ridiculously overpriced closed system drives Microsoft offers.

It worked fine for me and all my friends. It seems that everyone at G4 always has a problem with their PS3. G4 is pro-microsoft; we get it already.

i dont know if i trust x-plays reviews...sometimes theyre right on but then other times they give whacky ass reviews...so not sure if i trust em...but this game does look bad ass, wouldve been cool if they gave you choices, but o well, guess ill settle for chopping people up and infamous wouldve been cool if it want PS3 exclusive, gotta wait 3 more days to play...errr i hate work

If anyone is intrested in a review IGN gave it a 7.5...while Australian IGN gave it a 8.5...go figure! I think I'll wait for a demo or maybe rental. For now I'm perfectly happy with crackdo...I mean Infamous!
