Get ready to panic, Xboxers: On Tuesday, June 16th from 7:01AM UTC (12:01 AM PST) Live will be down for maintenance for up to 24 hours. As if this wasn't insult enough, when the service resumes, you will not be enjoying any new features or content. The maintenance is to prepare for some of the new goodies that are coming later this year.
Personally, I plan on spending that day on the PlayStation 3... but if you're a single-system person, you can spend that 24 hours either playing single-player games or you can just imagine how great it will be when last.fm is available through Live, you can rate all the content on Live, you can shop in the Avatar marketplace, and buy full games through the new Games on Demand service.
Although Major Nelson doesn't say it, I hope that maintenance also solves some of the lag problems and other issues Live has been having for some people as well.
So how will you spend your day apart from Xbox Live?

To be completely honest though, the only thing that gets me as amped as I get for the "very real" Snow Leopard, is when I say:
"The Penguins beat the Red Wings last night and are headed to game 7"
I don't care whose ice we're on, both teams have completely delivered during this series and win or lose, this has been one of the best (in my opinion) NHL finals in recent memory.
... Now that I think about it, so was the Super Bowl this year. I think the moral of this story is Pittsburgh teams have great games (Pirates excluded) especially when it's all on the line (where the Pirates can't even get to).

Nothing wrong with how MS announces and delivers but I think you have to admit that Sony is better at constantly updating. I think MS would do it more but they are afraid of breaking more units.

no i totally agree. it's better for the consumers when we get these features, but i was attacked for liking how microsoft announces and delivers. well, i do like that they announce and deliver, what's so wrong with that?

As a 360 FB I can see you only see this from one POV. But in actuality both systems have been copying off of each other and providing updates to give there customers things the other system does. HD-DVD, NXE, larger Hard drives, HDMI are all things MS did to respond to PS3 (and Wii with the Avatars). It really is a copy cat console war.
