I was able to describe the first artwork for the upcoming Legend of Zelda game for Wii earlier this week, but Nintendo wouldn't let anyone in attendance take a picture. Thankfully, though, it released the artwork officially today. What do you think this tells us about the next Zelda game?

GUYS the "Sword Theory" is right!
the Title itself backs it up!
look at all the major titles of the series
-the legend of Zelda
-A link to the Past
-links awakening
-Ocarina of Time
They all had a Picture of a sword going through the title.
Even the Title's that didnt have the sword going through it, a particular key element of the game was usually placed in the title
-Majora's Mask
-Minish Cap
-Four swords [had four swords in the title]
-Phantom Hourglass
-Spirit Tracks[ had the train in it]
-Twilight princess [didn't have a sword because he was a wolf, therefore his wolf form went through the title]
[ I'm aware that i didn't state every zelda game, there's alot]
I know alot of people will disagree with me, and say that Twilight Princess was one of the major Zelda games, but I found it to be a bit too gimmicky, [but that's just my opinion, let's not start a flame war]
anyways, too my point:
we definitely know this is supposed to be a major Zelda game, because of the secrecy behind the whole thing, they must be cooking up something good for zelda fans.
and because of that, I would assume that it would have a sword going through the title like all the other major ones, however it doesn't.
Take this assumption and put it in conjuction with the very clever analysis most people made when seeing how this girl looks/is shaped, and the fact that Link is down one magical glowy sharp object, and we can successfully conclude that The girl is Most definitely His Sword,personified.
The next thing we have to figure out is...if this is Ganon's doing....Maybe he cursed Princess Zelda to a life of slashing things by turning her into ur sword, Which of course would mean your sword's gonna be screaming "HEY LISTEN" every five seconds because she's gonna be the annoying companion this time.
also- something to think about, [im not sure about the ending of twilight princess cuz I played it forever ago] but I think Link still had the ability to turn into a wolf when the game was over, so assuming that this takes place right after he rides off at the end of the game, he'll still be all wolfy. and maybe not need a sword that much.

what if they made a game where a new Link, a millenium later, in modern times [finally] finds a chest with all the old Link's items in it, like he opens it up and The master sword, majora's mask, the minish cap, the phantom hourglass, the windwaker, and the twilight princess were all stuck in there. lol

The Zelda series is awesome. The latest version has a number of new items that are so cool. there are a lot of heart pieces to collect and the dungeons are awesome. My top ten has a lot of tp dungeons. The best part is using the wii remote to swing the sword is soooooo much more fun than the gamecube version. The graphics are awesome and the music is great. My biggest complaint is with the series in general. I am so confused as to the timeline and flow of the overall story. Nevertheless overall, this game is awesome. the best zelda game tied with ocarina of time and majora's mask.

I can't believe everyone on the comment page below me hasn't noticed this yet... The girl behind Link is the fairy queen from wind waker!
Also I think if this game is real I think that it will be for the Wii. Link is right handed in the picture. He has no sword in his right hand but he has a shield in his left. Also the fairy queen has a strange pattern on her shirt making it look like the master sword. She also has a pointed head like the master sword... Perhaps the master sword transforms into her or something like that.

Perhaps...the girl is, as many have said, in fact the Queen of Fairies. There are so many ideas. Maybe she created the Master Sword, maybe she is the Master Sword, maybe she took the Sword, maybe she's to help him get it back. She does seem to have a gem in the middle of her chest, which strengthens my agreement to the theory that she may in fact be the Master Sword.
Is this-truly-official artwork? Link was a left handed swordsman last time I played.
I suppose we have to be patient. Unless someone walks up to the game-writer's door and demands to know what's going on. Ugh.

she looks like the fairy girl from Mother and Child Isle from WInk Waker. The one that gives u the fire and ice arrows. the queen of the fairys i believe. just a thought...

Yay, TP sequel :V since that link has no sword and just his shield, and at the very end of TP he rides off with just his shield, I hope its a direct sequel (like how Majora was a direct sequel of OoT)
I still think it would be cool to see a 3d remake of LoZ:LTTP
And agreeing with abunch of other people on here, those wind waker style zelda games piss me off, Links not supposed to be some runny nosed little brat running around pretending to be a pirate >:V

this girl may just be another fairy to help link but i think they have more planned than that. or maybe the girl herself is some sort of jewel that link has to protect.
who knows they could have already taken this character out of the game nintendo works in strang ways but they are still my favorite

As long as it's not another wind waker i'm all for it! God I hated that game. That and oracle of seasons were the only games I was to annoyed at to finish. I just hate when they make Link cartoonish! Makes me feel like i'm trapped in a japanese nightmare. Although minsk cap and hourglass were actually pretty good.
Stil this looks like its going to be more like twilight princess, let's hope so! Can't say the girl with the miniskirt doesn't creep me out a little though. If she's not going to be pretty at least give her a longer skirt, that's wayy to short for confort.
