Now, you BioShock fans out there have no doubt had a debate or two about the inclusion of multiplayer in 2K’s upcoming sequel BioShock 2, which will be released on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. Well, there’s no point in wasting your breath discussing it, because it’s in the game, and that’s all there is to it. The good news is that some new details about the game's multiplayer mode have been revealed that should pique the interest of skeptics as well as have fans reaching for a sedative plasmid.
First off, the multiplayer takes place during Rapture’s collapse, making it a prequel to the original BioShock (An MP prequel alongside a singleplayer campaign that takes place 10 years after the events of the first game?! Would you kindly pick my jaw up from off my feet?) Best of all, you get to play as a Plasmid test subject and assist in unleashing the mayhem that befell Rapture leading up to the events of the first game.
If you're all about the lost causes, then you can also play as a normal citizen of Rapture, struggling to protect the underwater metropolis from its inevitable destruction. This means you’ll get to see and play through portions of the city as they existed before you saw them in the original game, which just sounds incredibly cool. The levels have apparently been redesigned from the ground up, which suggests that Digital Extremes, the developers handling the multiplayer side of the game, have taken the multiplayer experience as seriously and treated it with as much care as 2K Marin has the singleplayer portion of the game.
No word yet on how many players multiplayer will support, how many maps, or what the modes will be, but it has been revealed that players will be able to unlock new weapons, plasmids, and tonics using experience points earned during combat. Whether any of those items will be unique to multiplayer remains to be seen, but the combinations are said to number well in the hundreds, which suggests quite a bit of variety in terms of combat.
Honestly, if these new details don’t significantly melt the icy skepticism of some fans, then nothing will. I for one am completely sold on multiplayer, and am officially triply excited about this game.
Anyone out there as excited about being part of Rapture’s downfall as I am?

Um you whiners out there know that multiplayer is optional right? Its not like you have to get to a certain rank to play the single player mode. If you have such a big tiff about it just go take it out on a stone wall.

I'm feeling better about having multiplayer in the game, it looks as though the designers are putting some real thought and effort into it, as opposed to using it as a "tag on" to boost sales.

Guys, I don't really like multiplayer. This game didnt' need it(not that it will ruin the single player experience) but the presence of it is just annoying. I don't like it when Multiplayer is implemented in games that don't need it (Uncharted) Multiplayer is the biggest mistake of human mankind.

Haha cool! Digital Extremes is doing the multiplayer huh? They work in my city - I even got to volunteer and help them beta test Dark Sector. I'm sure it'll be a blast, I can't wait to try it. :)

I know that multiplayer is a must nowadays because hardcore gamers such as most of us who read The Feed go through games faster than we really should after having paid $60 in the first place. I was totally enthralled with the first Bioshock and while I was on vacation last year, I played through it on Hard in a little over a week and a half and will do it again to get the "good" ending. I know that part 2 is going to be amazing and the multiplayer is really just icing on the cake as the real important thing is advancing the story, which is why the 1st game won game of the year honors when it was new. I'm just glad that this time we PS3 owners are going to be getting it the same time as everyone else this time.

Is anyone else having trouble viewing the feed in Google Chrome?

I hear you on that but this is one I can't miss. The first Bioshock was epic. I have to know what happens next in Rapture.

why do developers have to tack on multiplayer to games that are heavy in the solo narrative? it just doesn't make sense. i have played tons of games that shouldn't have had them attached merely because one it wasn't worth it and the other it was incredibly horrible to play.

Still wont get it sadly....Not because it looks dumb just because i have tons of other games lined u to get.

i love this idea, idk how anyone could be skeptical, since the multiplayer isnt quickly assembled or anything it has been in development for 2 years, and has been checked up on every-now-and then by the origional developers to make sure its perfect.

I think I will love the MP on Bioshock 2, I hope the single player is as good as the first one.
Also I think they have the date wrong gamespot say BS2 is coming out on nov. 3rd.
