If you were following Microsoft's E3 2009 press conference, you can be forgiven for thinking Kojima's upcoming Metal Gear: Rising was a 360-exclusive -- the game wasn't even mentioned at Sony's event. But, alas, your 360-exclusivity is not to be: Metal Gear Solid: Rising will be out on the PC and PlayStation 3 as well as Microsoft's box.
At Konami's E3 press event, father of Metal Gear Hideo Kojima said the new game is about Raiden and is not being developed by the core Kojima-led team. It's scheduled for release in 2010.
In other Konami news: Metal Gear Solid: Arcade is on the way. Built on the PS3 Metal Gear Online game, Metal Gear Solid: Arcade will use 3D goggles and a network so gamers can compete on different arcade units. It’s scheduled to come out in Japan this year, but there's no word on a US release.
Oh, and on a more personal level, you know that annoying teaser campaign from Kojima that I've been railing against? It turns out that, according to Kojima, the storm on the page represented the world in turmoil, and the sun eventually showing up represented... I don't know what it represented, honestly, except a vexing marketing campaign.
