Guitar Hero 5

As a lead-up to E3, Activision revealed the full list of 85 bands you will be rocking out to this fall, should you decide to pick up Guitar Hero 5 at your local retail outlet of choice.

The lineup contains heavy hitters like The Rolling Stones, Weezer, Bob Dylan, Bowie and the Beastie Boys, as well as some left-field choices like Eagles of Death Metal, Elliott Smith(!), and Spacehog.

My overall snap analysis: It's a solid but not outrageously inspired lineup of musicians for a music game. Understandable, I guess: As every band on earth become available in video game form, it's becoming harder and harder to shock and delight music-hounds with choices, so what can you expect?

Now that the actual list is completed, let's move on to fantasy music games... Here's my choice for under-rated band that must be included in future rock games: Thor, the Rock Warrior. The originator of gladiator rock, Thor will eventually rule the entire earth, so we might as well get used to playing his songs in Guitar Hero.

TheFeed has personally been rocked by Thor any number of times--he is our unofficial metal mascot-- and I want you to enjoy being rocked as well. What about it, Activision? A little love for a Norse-God turned metal-head? Do not let Harmonix beat you to the punch here like they did with the Beatles!

you guys should broaden you musical horizons. i counted 48 good bands and most of the others i haven't heard of, so they could be fun to play i just don't know.

ralf1118 the reason they didn't put Metallica (my favorite band) on there is because they already made a game dedicated to them, Guitar Hero: Metallica, It's great and I suggest you to buy it, I have it.

    No way!
Megadeth, Children of Bodom, Jimmy Eat World and Iron Maiden!
I know Guitar Hero 5 is going to be sweet, not just because of the setlist, but because of the gameplay too.
I can't wait, I am so going to buy it.

Thank you GH developers for not including System of a Down! Worst band ever and now we're spared seeing them again in another GH game!

Scars on Broadway, Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom, Queens of the Stone Age and Muse are the only good bands on there. There's some other decent bands, but they definatley aren't noteworthy. Just as kelustu said, this game is going to have little to no difficulty at all(maybe Maiden and COB, but only on guitar). and i swear to god, if they have They Say as the Scars on Broadway song, i'm never buying a Guitar Hero branded game ever. Unless they take the terrible setlist and career progression system out and revert back to the Guitar Hero 1-3 version.

What a bunch of garbage, and this is why I hated GHWT. Where's the FUN challenging songs! The game is SO boring now, and this game looks like it'll be even more boring than world tour. There were only maybe 4 songs total on GHWT that were actually fun because they weren't repetitive and stupidly easy, most I just refused to play when people picked them online because they were just so boring a minute or so into the song.

Make a GH or RockBand Metal/DeathMetal only version, and then I'll come back.

And for kelustu - Yes. Avenged Sevenfold are amazing. Anyone can say they hate them, and I can accept that, but if anyone tries to deny their insane instrumental skill and their incredible musicianship in general, they're only lying to themselves.
Trivium would also be nice to see. Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium are what Guitar Hero's missing (and I'm not counting the crappy cover of Beast and the Harlot - that was a travesty).

That's terrible. I counted six whole bands I slightly care about. This could possible be worst than GH4's setlist imo.

As for the guy who said there should be more female fronted bands - I agree. I'm actually a big fan of Lacuna Coil. Evanescence, Nightwish, and In this Moment are all right too. But they'll never put any of them on the game (except maybe Evanescence) because they're not as popular bands. And less known bands = less sales. To me, it seems like they're trying too hard to appeal to adults. Elton John? Tom Petty? Okay...and without trying to renounce him, how does any Stevie Wonder song fit into guitar hero?

If Activision would pull their heads out of their butts and get back to what Guitar Hero was originally about - rock - maybe they can pull off a good game.
