This is the sixth article we've posted about the Kojima countdown clock (One, Two, Three, Four, Five). Today's story: Along with numerous letters, numbers and character art, there's now a link to another page which features a picture of a mask. See? There it is above.
Here's my expert analysis of all this hype: I don't give a crap. Yes, there's a mask. Maybe it points to some other game Kojima is making. It probably does. Who knows?
There's a point where marketing a game in a cool and mysterious way becomes an annoyance, and this marketing campaign has long passed that point. The game's probably not coming out for years, people. As TheFeed's Jake Gaskill points out, if you figure in the countdown clocks, cut-scenes and load times, people spend more time anticipating Kojima games than actually playing them.
The countdown clock and all the other clues obviously point to Metal Gear Solid 5. Wow! What a huge shocker! So there's an incredibly popular game series and they're making a sequel?? I can't effin' believe it! Who could have ever guessed in a million, billion years?
Not to destroy any carefully worked out marketing plans, but I'd bet anything the following games are being created and/or planned right now:
- Madden 2011, 2013 and 2014 (Madden: Space Football Edition)
- Halo 4
- Gears of War 3
- Another Mario Wii game
- Another Mario DS game
- Imagine: Sixth Grade
- Fallout 4
- Final Fantasy Infinity
- Pac-Man 2 (okay, I made that one up.)
- Seventy-five billion shovelware mini-game collections for the Wii.
Just call me the video game psychic, people! Oh, and thank you for listening to me rant.

He's just having a little fun with the announcement. Games take too long to make anymore. When we don't hear or see anything of a game like MGS in development we get upset that we can't even get a teaser. When they do stuff like this website, we get upset because we know it's gonna be over-hyped and still years away from release. At least we know that something is being made. I would kill for a site like this for the next half-life game so I would finally know if the game is gonna ever be made.

Ill challange you on Mario! No Nintendo console after the SNES had more then 1 mario platformer on it. I bet they are NOT working on a new mario for the Wii. I bet they are working on Mario for what ever replaces the Wii. Zelda is a diffrent story ( the Wii game is nothing more then a port)

I can actually agree. I will follow the campaign, but it is starting to get annoying. Just following countdowns with countdowns. Come on, Kojima. At least give it some variety!

i agree w/ this post 100%. i don't care to hear about a game unless there is a trailer or gameplay or screenshots coming soon, and i certainly hate hearing about games years in advance. that's why i laugh everytime sony releases a cgi trailer and the fanboys go crazy. more than likely, the game won't even come out for 2-3 years later.

You are the man. I wish more people would express there feelings like this. I think a lot of us are tired of HYPE HYPE HYPE. Then wait 3 or 4 years to find out the game is just so so. I am not saying that MGS5 will be so so. I am just saying enough of the HOOP-LA already. I am tired of getting games and the first thing that pops into my head is how to make it better. The problem is that not enough people care. They just want the next thing does not matter how long they wait. I waited for street fighter 4 and love that game to death, but everyday I play is another day I wish I could change or add things to the game. OK back to waiting for DARKSTALKERS and STREET FIGHTER 5 with final ko's. The next MK or KILLER INSTINCT. Biggest FAIL for me was GEAR of LAG 2, I wasted a lot of time waiting for that broken game.
