The original Boom Blox deserved all the praise it originally received. If you're in the anti-Wii camp and don't own one, there's probably not much to say to get you to try out the first, let alone the recently launched sequel Boom Blox Bash Party.
Perhaps, though, Mr. Blockbuster himself, Steven Spielberg, could be the one to melt your icy heart with his commentary on what went into the EA puzzle action creation.
