For years, Hideo Kojima has tried to distance himself from the franchise that's come to define him, but he always ends up working on a new Metal Gear. The pressure to develop a new Metal Gear is always there, especially now, as Kojima moves into a business role on the Konami side, in addition to running Kojima Productions.
“Yeah, there’s absolutely pressure there," said Kojima to Develop magazine, as part of a larger feature on the man's future. "Maybe if I quit Konami that pressure might be a bit better, but since Konami handles the business side of our operations, yeah, there’s definitely a demand to continue a series as successful as Metal Gear.”
Kojima has been not-so-quietly suggesting there will be a brand-new Metal Gear game premiered at this year's E3. Kojima has always been a fan of E3, and with the show seemingly returning to its gigantic old self, it seems only fitting for Kojima to usher it back in with something of his own.
