Quantic Dream's Indigo Prophecy was one of my favorite games for the original Xbox. Its blend of story, characterization, music, and gameplay was more than enough to overcome its (unfortunate) graphics. I was so satisfied with the entire experience that I had no interest in a sequel; I liked the way the plot was wrapped up and saw no reason for its creators to revisit the game's world. In an excellent interview conducted by 1Up, director David Cage (also company founder and CEO) revealed that there was interest in a sequel, but ultimately, he couldn't pull the trigger.
It's nice to see that (rare) kind of artistic integrity in a business known for gratuitously pumping out sequels. Quantic Dream's work on Indigo is one of the biggest reasons I'm looking forward to Heavy Rain. I expect the same level of deep storytelling, excellent music, and wonderful characterization, but this time it'll all be accompanied by visuals that won't induce vomit.
From past comments, I know a lot of you didn't play Indigo Prophecy. If you did, are you happy there wasn't a sequel? If you didn't, are tempted by Heavy Rain to see what all the Quantic Dream fuss is about?
