If you’d walk around the G4 offices for the past few weeks, you’d notice a certain buzz in the air. While it might be snoring due to long hours, or someone laughing uncontrollably because they’ve had a bit too much coffee…it’s because the big show is approaching. Less than two weeks away E3 2009 invades the Los Angeles Convention Center. Or as I like to call it, ground zero. I’m glad the ESA and all the companies decided to get rid of the last two years of E3 mess and have returned the show to it’s former glory. It’s about damn time.
While I was prepping to be on X-Play’s pre-E3 show today (airing May 28th), my mind was running rampant about all the pre-E3 rumors and speculation. What’s real? What’s fake? From a new PSP, to a motion controller contraption thingamabob for the Xbox 360 and/or PS3, to Gran Turismo 5 (and it’s smaller PSP counterpart) to Pikmin 3, something mysterious from Kojima Productions, and a new Zelda or Mario for Wii, it’s pretty exciting. And those are just the rumors. Who knows about the surprises!
Then you have the sequels that we’ll be previewing including Halo 3: ODST, Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, Guitar Hero 5, Assassin’s Creed 2, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Army of Two: The 40th Day, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII….phew. That’s just off the top of my head. See where I’m going here?
Hundreds of amazing games. There’s no wonder why people are excited about this years show!
E3 2009 will be one epic event. And G4 and G4tv.com will be bringing it to you live. From over 22 hours of live coverage on G4, to round the clock coverage on G4tv.com/E3, including streaming press conferences live, bandwidth crushing amounts of HD video, up-to-the-minute news, previews, and interviews. And finally live web broadcasts on Tuesday and Wednesday where we’ll be debuting an all new web show, plus a little surprise on Thursday that we’ll be revealing shortly – we’ve got the show covered like nobody’s business.
Over the next few days on TheFeed, we’ll be dropping our most anticipated E3 titles, and what our little hearts are wishing for. All of the new staffers we hired (that we announced a few weeks ago) are in route to Los Angeles in their U-Hauls, and chomping at the bit to hit the ground running. I personally can’t wait to have the full team together and tackle the big show. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
This is my 9th E3, and while all of them have been different, there’s something about this year that is really special to me. While I know there’s a lot of people out there that hated the old crazy over-the-top format of E3, I missed it tremendously. But I think I’m just really looking forward to seeing how the amazing team we’ve assembled tackles the show. There are hundreds of G4 staffers busting their asses to make sure that G4 and G4tv.com bring it to you in a way that no one else can. And to those people I raise my Diet Mountain Dew to. Hell, they probably need one too. Or ten?
And while my bosses and their bosses don’t want me to announce anything officially here, there’s also something we’ve had in the G4 cooker for quite a while that we all can’t wait to unleash upon the internets. I’ve codenamed it Monster. Keep your eyes peeled.
