Activision has revealed a teaser site for the next Tony Hawk game. Judging from the site's splash page, Ride will feature a unique skateboard controller (pictured above). Other than that and the systems its for (Wii, PlayStation, 360), there's not much info on the game. The site promises a larger reveal on June 2nd, at E3.
Most people would agree that a new controller by itself isn't enough to revive and restore the struggling Tony Hawk franchise, but a new controller coupled with a tight game and new innovation could. But maybe this points to a larger question: Assuming the skateboard controller is designed to make Ride realistic, controlled with the moves you use when riding a real skateboard, at what point does it become pointless to be playing a video game? Why not actually skate? What are your thoughts? Is this a cool evolution of legendary series, or just another gimmick? Oh, and check out the trailer... very little is revealed, but damn, that's some impressive skate photography!
If there weren't already countless reasons to keep your TV tuned to G4 during E3 week, finding out what's up with Tony Hawk's new game should put things over the edge. I promise, as long as the game is at the show, we'll let you know about it!
