Nokia 5800 Xpress Music Phone Review »

Chris Hardwick is here to tell us all about the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music Phone, and see if you can communicate with the outside world and make beautiful music at the same time.

Look below the cut for the written review from Attack of the Show.

What You Need to Know

  • This is definitely one of Nokia's most impressive looking phones
  • It's only about 2" wide and weighs less than 4 oz.
  • The phone is a little thicker than an iPhone
  • It has a 3.2" touch screen
  • As far as the touch screen goes, things like scrolling or typing are tough because you have to hit smaller icons, and sometimes it doesn't register
  • Tapping icons isn't that bad, but sometimes you're required to double tap, which is annoying
  • The haptic feedback is cool, but the screen feels plastic-y
  • Overall, it's not as good as we expect from Nokia, but it'll work
  • To connect to Wi-Fi, you have to tap settings, then connectivity, then wireless LAN, then find a network; it tries to do this automatically when you need a connection, but it's still confusing
  • The browser is pretty quick, but zooming in or navigating isn't as seamless as we'd like
  • The camera is excellent; photo quality is detailed and you can even get video out from the phone
  • The "download" section is sparse, so you're going to have to go to Nokia's site to get apps
  • The music and video player are both very intuitive
  • The speaker is incredibly loud
  • It comes with an 8 GB Micro SD card

  • $350 (no contract required to buy the phone)
  • If you need a phone you can take to different carriers, this really isn't that bad of a deal
  • The problem is, you can get a better phone with a contract for at least $150 cheaper.
