The world's lightest notebook is here and it's packed with an 8" screen, 2 GB of RAM, 128 GB of solid state memory, GPS and Wi-Fi, but will the presence of Vista and a $900 price tag pull down what could be a positive rating?
Look below the cut for the written review from Attack of the Show.
What You Need To Know
- Only 0.8 inches thick
- 9 and a half by 4 and a half and weighs 1.4 pounds
- Might even fit in a pants or jacket pocket
- Comes in green, white, red and black shimmer
- The keyboard is widely spaced and big enough to type on. The rectangular shape of the notebook was an excellent choice by Sony
- The pointing stick (nubbin) is similar to the old IBM's and actually isn't that bad for mousing. It's tough to move around accurately, though
- The mouse clicks are thin and at the very bottom of the device, and surprisingly not hard to use
- The 8 inch display also looks great because of the l-e-d backlight
- Overall, we weren't too bothered by how small it was
- It's got 2 gigs of ram, but the Intel Atom processor is a little less powerful than most at 1.33 GigaHertz
- Booting up takes too long
- Browsing the web is too slow
- Batching videos is too choppy
- Overall, this thing is painfully slow. It needs Windows XP
- If you need style and have lots of extra cash, this is the perfect choice
- Everyone else should hold off
Price
- $900
Overall Rating
- 3 Seals of Approval out of 5 (how do we rate gadgets?)
- Design: 4.5
- Quality: 4
- Features: 1.5
- Price: 2
