Blizzard has confirmed that a Collector's Edition of StarCraft II will eventually be available for all you RTS-loving collectors out there. "What will it contain?" I imagine you're asking. That hasn't been revealed yet, except one-item: A behind-the-scenes DVD, similar to the ones released for World of Warcraft and its expansions.
On an official message board, Blizzard RTS community manager Kevin Yu posted the following:
"We are looking to gather some good questions aimed specifically at the developers of StarCraft II about their experience in developing the game. Fun questions are a plus. Submit your questions to this thread and there is a chance they may be selected to be added in a special video interview with the developers. Feel free to shoot out questions to all parts of the team: Production, Design, Art, Programming, QA, etc."
The PC and Mac game will come out "when it is ready," as is Blizzard's policy, but reportedly, that's in 2009. When we know more, we'll tell you more.
I'm not a big "collector's edition" buyer, but I'm in an unusual circumstance. Because of my job, I'm all but drowning in gaming "swag" and so I really don't like to pay for more. What about you? Are you a "collector," or are you more like, "just gimme the game!"
