We write so many stories about games being delayed, it's nice to occasionally tell you that a game is coming earlier than originally announced. In this case, PlayStation 3 exclusive inFamous will be hitting shelves on May 26th as opposed to in June.
Pre-orders begin today, and those who pre-order get some extra stuff, including:
- The ‘Gigawatt Blades’ Super Power: The Gigawatt Blades supercharges main character Cole’s arm into an instrument of destruction unmatched by any other mêlée weapon in game.
- Limited-edition inFamous costume for Home Avatar - Look like one of the REAPER gang members.
- Early access to the official Game Demo. Be one of the first to play inFamous on May 7th. Everyone else will wait until the 21st.
Now for a little speculation: We were discussing this release date decision around the office, and we think the reason the game is coming out earlier than expected is because multi platform action game Prototype is hitting shelves on June 9th. Both titles share some similarities -- open world sandbox gameplay, super-powers -- so it seems to make sense that Sony would want to release their title a bit earlier to get a jump on the ostensible competition. But whether that's the reason or not, it will be nice to finally have a new AAA title to try out. It's been pretty dry out there lately!
