Wii Sports Resort

A launch window for Wii Sports Resort has been announced. At a Tokyo press conference, Nintendo said the sequel to the top selling video game of all time, Wii Sports, will be on shelves in Japan in June and North America and Europe in July. No word on an exact release date or price as yet.

Nintendo is releasing their Wii MotionPlus controller add-on simultaneously with the game. Wii MotionPlus aims to allow true one-to-one movement matching in Wii games, and thus open new possibilities for accuracy in Wii control.

Wii Sports Resort will reportedly feature at least ten mini-games, although only three have been revealed: "Disc Dog" (Frisbee), "Power Cruising" (Jet ski), and Kendo (Sword fighting).

I know the Wii is regarded by many as a weak console for kids and soccer moms, but WiiMotion Plus could finally deliver on the true possibility of the system. Early reviews say the add-on's extra accelerometers change the play experience significantly. It also allows for the Wii game everyone has wanted since the system launched: Lightsaber fighting!

Personally, I can't wait to get WiiMotion plus, provided there are at least a few titles more hardcore than Wii Sports Resort that support the technology. What about you? Do you want it?
