Capcom has tapped Bear McCreary, composer for Battlestar Galactica and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, to create the soundtrack for upcoming third-person action-shooter Dark Void.
According to Bear, posting on his blog, the soundtrack is "easily the biggest sound I've ever created." It features strings, winds, brass, percussion, ethnic soloists, guitars, basses and even an ondes martenot.
But why read about a piece of music when you can listen to it? Embedded below is a taste of the main Dark Void theme. I think you will agree it is both stirring and heroic.
No release is complete with a tiny bit of controversy. According to Bear, Capcom is proving a tad slow to approve a soundtrack album, even though 80 minutes of music is finished and mastered. Bear urges you to visit Capcom's site and demand (or request politely) that a CD be released.
Another cool bit from Bear's blog: "I have ANOTHER super-secret video game project that will be released sometime next year." What could it be?
Dark Void is set to launch on Xbox 360,PlayStation 3 and Windows PCs this year.
