WWE fans have been wondering why Koko B. Ware was selected for the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2009. While he was popular with younger fans (mostly for carrying around a parrot and flapping his arms like an idiot), it's not like he was selling out arenas and he wasn't exactly stellar in the ring. Prowrestling.Net has reported that "The Birdman" was chosen due to his involvement with THQ's Legends of WrestleMania game.
The WWE Hall of Fame class of 2009 will be inducted on April 4, 2009, the night before WretleMania XXV.
I understand that this is "sports entertainment", but Ware was just a mid-carder. Shouldn't the hall be reserved to true superstars and glorious jobbers? It can be argued that Frankie, his parrot, was more popular than he was. And now he's going to the WWE Hall of Fame because he's in a game? Well...that's one way to carve out a career. I wonder if I can work the same gimmick. I'm going to start walking around the office with an ocelot. Blogger hall of fame, here I come.
