This was one of the more interesting rumors surrounding the PS3: Sony was considering releasing a PS3 without a Blu-ray drive. Raymond pretty much hit the mark on this. He asked, "That sounds more than a little ridiculous to me. How is that even feasible?"
It isn't. It would make every PS3 game released at retail incompatible with its own platform.
Sony marketing manager Kim Nguyen went on the record: "Quote that: Blu-ray will always be part of PS3." So there you have it... rumor killed. Kim did not comment, however, on rumors of a looming price-cut for the PlayStation 3. A price drop will definitely happen over the course of the console's life, but will it hit in the next couple of months? I think so.
