Durabook Rugged Laptop Review »

We're taking a look at a new laptop that is drop and spill resistant. The magnesium-alloy case and anti-shock mounted LCD screen, as well as an Intel Centrino Duo Processor, 2 GB of RAM and 160 GB of hard drive, protect its innards from impact.

Look below the cut for the written review from Attack of the Show.

What You Need to Know

  • Slick for a rugged laptop at about 1.5 inches thick and rounded edges
  • Weighs in at 6 lbs. which is a bit much
  • Keyboard and touchpad are widely spaced and easy to use
  • 15 inch display is a good size, but the protective cover on the screen can hamper visibility at some angles
  • Overall visually: It's not your typical ugly weather-proof notebook
  • PC Mark tests were respectable scoring at about 4200 points in PC Mark 05
  • Passes our shock and drop tests when dropped from the maximum 2.5 feet on any side
  • Passes our spill test when liquid is dumped on the keypad
  • The same specs are a lot cheaper on normal notebooks, so make sure you need the fancy rugged features

  • $1,950

Overall Rating

  • Design: 3.5
  • Quality: 2.5
  • Features: 3
  • Price: 3.5
