Elevation Partners co-founder Roger McNamee thinks that the upcoming Palm Pre will cause legions of iPhone users to switch to Sprint. Gamers will remember that Elevation Partners as the investment company that infused BioWare and Pandemic with 300-million dollars. The company is also a huge backer of Palm, so take his words with a giant cube of salt. In an interview with Bloomberg, McNamee said:
While I'm sure the Palm Pre will do really well, I don't think it'll put a major dent into the iPhone's installed base. It's an exciting product, no doubt, but I see it as a more attractive option for business users. If anything, RIM (with its BlackBerry devices) has more to worry about than Apple. As cool as the Pre appears to be, its entertainment options are limited. The iPhone's superior graphics capabilities and iTunes integration make it a more appealing device for most consumers. And before you accuse me of being an Apple fanboy -- just stop it. Among TheFeed writers, I'm the one that loves Android, Symbian, and WebOS the most.
What do you think America (and other countries)? Is McNamee just blowing smoke? Or can the Pre do some damage to the iPhone?
