Korean gamers love real-time strategy games -- so much so that television networks in Korea broadcast competitive matches of all the top RTS titles. The latest game getting all gussied up for TV: Halo Wars. Siliconera has reported:
It will be interesting to see if the Halo Wars show takes off. PC gaming is huge in Korea (I'm convinced that the South Korean government issues kids a copy of Starcraft and two cartons of cigarettes when they turn 14, instructing them to head to the nearest Internet cafe). The Xbox 360 isn't nearly as popular, but Ensemble Studios and the Halo brand should attract some viewers.
On a side note, I'm still immensely vexed as to why Microsoft shut down an excellent studio like Ensemble and chose to keep some of its other developers (*cough* Rare *cough*). There is no justice.
