Halo Wars Call to Battle Trailer »

Microsoft has announced that its Halo Wars demo has broken its single-day download record. It's on the way to becoming one of the most successful demos in company history.

"The demo, which was released on Xbox LIVE on Feb. 5, quickly set the day-one record for the most demo downloads on the service, and in just its first five days, has been downloaded by more than 2 million Xbox Live Gold members around the world."

Alhough it's a Halo game, I'm surprised by the popularity of Halo Wars. I didn't think gamers would be so interested in the genre. I've never been overly impressed with real-time strategy games on consoles. Despite the developer putting a lot of thought into the control scheme, I was still skeptical.

Many of you have played the demo. What do you think? Are you going to buy it now? Rent it? Forget it ever existed?
